Job Description
The role of the IT Specialist is central to upholding and advancing the company's IT framework. This position encompasses comprehensive hardware support and varied IT duties (including potential interaction with SAP by Design), tailored to a mid-sized and growing business.
Primary Responsibilities:
Hardware Expertise and Management
- Maintains, installs, and upgrades computer and peripheral equipment. Identifies requirements for new or replacement hardware and systems, prioritizing compatibility and futureproofing.
- Delivers extensive hardware support, including troubleshooting and resolving office hardware and peripheral issues.
Network and Software Maintenance
- Resolves network and equipment problems, ensuring reliable and secure IT operations.
- Provides assistance with software, hardware, and connectivity issues; and imparts training on new or modified equipment and programs.
Cellular Phone System Management
- Manages the company's cellular phone systems and company mobile plan, including device setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Liaises with mobile carriers to ensure optimal service and cost-effective plan management.
Collaboration and Training
- Collaborates with department heads, managers, and stakeholders to align software adjustments with business processes.
- Leads training sessions on IT best practices, software applications, and hardware maintenance for staff.
General IT Support
- Handles the onboarding of new employees, including setting up IT equipment and facilitating access to software and networks.
- Oversees security systems to protect company data and infrastructure.
- Adapts to the changing IT needs of a mid-sized organization.
SAP By Design Familiarity (not required, but a plus)
- If proficient modifies SAP by Design modules based on project specifications and business needs.
- Engages with users for the implementation and optimization of SAP By Design functionalities.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Comprehensive understanding of computer hardware principles and troubleshooting methods
- Ability to work with minimal direction, and takes initiative with work related tasks
- Microsoft Office Suite proficient
- Ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience effectively
- Strong analytical skills to identify and solve user needs
- Excellent time management skills with the capability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Demonstrated troubleshooting proficiency in both hardware and software
- Proficiency in SAP by Design is a plus but not a prerequisite
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred but not required based on experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an IT role, with a significant focus on hardware support
