(AEI) Business Technology Solutions (BTS) group, you'll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better. The UX & Design team at AEI BTS is responsible for the end-to-end service experience and interaction design directly impacting AbbVie's US patients and the agents who support them. We employ a broad understanding of the access and reimbursement ecosystem paired with Patient Services information to own business relationships and lead the organization in execution of user-centric Research and Design initiatives across disciplines and subject areas. We lead by example on practical and innovative approaches while helping drive the technology strategy and execution for AEI overall. We enable solution design in alignment with the technology product delivery and architecture teams, and we work on web design, user-centered design, graphic design, human factors engineering, user interface (UI) design, information architecture (IA), interaction design (IxD), usability testing, and customer communication and marketing for AEI BTS. The UX & Design team acts as a thought leader and proponent for innovation, UX & Design best practices, sound design, and empathy for the patients who connect with us and rely on AbbVie's treatments every day. 

In this role you'll be responsible for:

  • The UX Design Manager will lead a team to enable the solution design in alignment with Delivery and Architecture team. The candidate will work on web design, user-centered design, graphic design, human factors engineering, user interface (UI) design, information architecture (IA), interaction design (IxD), usability testing, customer communication and marketing for AEI BTS. The ideal candidate will be a proponent for innovation, best practices, sound design with data & information optimization in mind, strong development habits, and efficient team/project structures.
  • We are looking for a proactive and passionate UX Professional who will raise the bar and tackle the following areas:
  • Leads a multi-disciplined UX team (researchers and Designers) and manages UX solutions for different business and system/application needs.
  • Understands organization's Vision, Goals, and Organizational Strategies and Tactics. Aligns department priorities appropriately, determines critical success factors, evaluates, and pursues initiatives based on fit with strategies.
  • Works on strategies aimed to improve business processes and system workflows, utilizing continuous improvement tactics and mindset.
  • Provides innovative solution design ideas along with execution strategies to help drive business or system improvements across AEI.
  • Act as a UX standards expert with application and business teams and understands business strategy and how UX can help attain their objectives.
  • Provides project status updates to leadership BTS team in prioritization, project strategies, manage UX portfolio by working with the program/project manager or scrum master.
  • Manages the project teams, budget, expenses, and capital costs against the budget.
  • Ensures various AEI teams are properly staffed or upskilled with UX methodologies and/or competencies.
  • Identifies emerging technological trends from multiple internal and external sources and assesses relevance. Integrating trends into functional, short-term objectives that increase the value and effectiveness of UX and Design landscape.
  • Advances technical expertise within function. Proactively demonstrate leadership by advising and sharing knowledge and expert opinions with subordinates, peers, vendors, and senior management. Mentor and train functional colleagues and assess current and emerging business challenges enabling functional goal achievement. Develop and sustain relationships with BTS and business stakeholders while gaining a broader understanding of strategic objectives from an insight generation perspective.
  • Leads team and cross-functional innovation and process improvement initiatives.

Tools and skills you will use in this role:

  • Extensive experience in designing UX/UI for complex business applications,
  • Extensive experience in Mobile, Web and Data Apps UX/UI design,
  • Proven experience with design concept tools (InVision, Axure, HTML / CSS / JavaScript),
  • Proven experience with UX strategy, UX methodologies and best practices,
  • Hands-on experience with creating design deliverables such as specifications, user flows, process flows, wireframes, blueprints, mockups, and prototypes,
  • Demonstrated ease in using the following tools: Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or similar design tools (Sketch, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator are preferred).

Experiences that make you a strong candidate for this role:

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a Quantitative discipline (e.g., Applied Math, Operational Research, Computer Science, or related Engineering degree) with 8 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree in a Quantitative discipline (e.g., Applied Math, Operational Research, Computer Science, or related Engineering degrees) with 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Pharmaceutical / Healthcare business and utilize this knowledge in the rapid advancement of agile, impactful, and cost-effective solutions. Lifesciences, healthcare analytics background preferred.
  • Solid understanding of impacting, emerging and vendor trends in the UX and Design space,
  • Proven track record in multi-team (technical/ operations/ business systems/ business) project delivery.
  • Experience with offshore/ onshore/ near shore resources.
  • In-depth knowledge of system development lifecycle, Agile Scrum methodologies and modern engineering practices.

Beneficial:

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.
