Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced field IT Support Specialist. This position is based from your Chicago-area home office with regular travel to downtown Chicago client sites. Site visits average 1-2 times per week or more as needed. Onsite travel is focused primarily in the Chicago area, and will require travel to other domestic locations as necessary. Travel averages 50%.
Position Overview:
The IT Support Specialist will work independently onsite and remotely, working with medical providers and office staff handling help desk tickets, troubleshooting hardware, connectivity issues, wireless, scanning, and system backup issues as well as installation and maintenance of network equipment, routers, physical servers, and desktop PCs. This will comprise the majority of your day-to-day tasks. Working from a home office requires a dedicated quiet space where you can work remotely with customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Working from home office, answering help desk phone calls and monitoring case queues and working closely with customers toward rapid issue resolution
- Traveling to customer locations in downtown Chicago to provide onsite field IT support (1-2 days/week, or as needed)
- Occasional domestic US travel to customer sites where installs, moves, and repairs are required
- Installing and supporting Windows Server based networks (2016, 2019,2022)
- Installing and managing networking equipment (Cisco & Dell), including initial configuration, fail-over setup, and VPN configuration
- SQL Server management which includes backup and restoration of databases, and job maintenance
- Medical software installation, configuration, and setup
- Using desktop support clients to remotely troubleshoot customer workstations and systems
- Troubleshooting and maintenance of peripheral hardware, monitors, printers, and scanners
- Coordinating projects with 3rd party vendors
- Sharing on-call rotation with your team, holiday/weekend/evening shifts are required
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- 4+ years of hands-on IT experience with Windows-based workstations and servers, both in a field and remote support capacity
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in IT related field highly desirable
- Experience with Windows Server environments (2012 or higher), including active directory management, group policy management, DHCP server configuration and DNS configuration
- Experience with Microsoft 10 workstations
- Microsoft SQL Server experience is a plus but not required.
