BHI Energy is searching for an Interconnection Support Engineer for a 1+yr contract position. Responsible for engineering assignments of limited scope and complexity using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems. Works under the supervision of a senior level engineer with specific work objectives. Work may be reviewed for technical accuracy.
Summary
The purpose of the Interconnection Support Engineer is to serve as a bridge between the E&C (Engineering and Construction) team and the TS (Transmission Services) team. Put broadly, those assigned to this role are tasked with assisting in pertinent information gathering from engineering calls and relaying said information to transmission managers. This way, deliverables to ISOs/RTOs submitted by transmission managers are indicative of intended engineering design. In addition, those assigned to this role will assist with relaying TS's timelines/plans to external business units and will also provide administrative support to TS (Transmission Services)
- Attend project scheduler's network diagram calls for all assigned projects. Provide general project interconnection updates as applicable and ensure all interconnection activities have a logical timeline assigned .
- Attend project engineering calls for all assigned projects. Keep Transmission Services in the loop on GSU spec updates, drawing package updates, reactive report updates, auxiliary dynamic device updates, and array updates. Examples of engineering documents that, when updates occur, should be brought to the attention of Transmission Services are:
- GSU Spec and GSU FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) Issuances
- Collection SLDs and associated Impedance Tables (incl. padmount technology)
- Substation Switching SLDs
- T-Line Design Criteria Documents and associated Impedance Tables
- Capacitor Bank and Current Limiting Reactor drawings
- New Wind/Solar Arrays and associated Inverter Technologies.
- Keep assigned projects up to date in shared Teams folders with the latest interconnection documents and reports. Several documents/reports that should be kept track of are:
- ERCOT Compliance Report
- Reactive Report
- SCR (Short Circuit Ratio) Study
- Losses Study
- SSR/SSCI (Sub-Synchronous Resonance) Report
- Project GIA and associated Amendments
- CURL (Corrective Unit Reactive Limit)
- FIS (Full Interconnection Study)
Qualifications / Education / Experience:
- BSEE degree or equivalent from an accredited university
- US Citizen or permanent legal resident authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years' experience in the power industry
- Master's degree
- Project management experience is a plus
- Experience with PSSE, TARA, and PowerWorld applications
