The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a friendly, energetic, driven, and detail-oriented Assistant to join our Human Resources Department. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team and learn the functionalities of Human Resources and other intricacies within our agency. The Human Resources Assistant will join the HR department as we develop, implement and support employment-related processes that add value to TOA and its employees, leading to improved employee welfare, empowerment, growth and retention, while remaining committed to TOA's key program drivers, its management and prosperity for its clients and employees.

To contribute to this mission, the Human Resources Assistant will:
- Assist the HR team with recruitment and onboarding
- Run Pre-Employment background checks
- Complete web invoices and requests for payment for the department
- Assist with department reporting, recordkeeping and filing
- Assist the department with general administrative tasks, such as:
- Scheduling
- Phone calls and general inquiries
- Orientation preparation
- File copies
- Mailings
- Other duties as assigned
This position will work collaboratively with all Human Resources team members, operations, leadership, finance, and any other key stakeholders needed
SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, 40 hours/week, hourly position.
M - F, regular daytime business hours
LOCATION: onsite, office location in South Portland, ME
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 1-2 years' experience in Human Resources or related field required.
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, to include, Excel, Word, and Power Point is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills in building relationships, customer service, and meeting target goals.
- Prior experience with relational databases, with preference given to experience with HRIS systems is a preferred but not required.
- Contracts that have Rider D: Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
- Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
- Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting to 10 pounds.
- Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primarily and essential job responsibility.
