Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the HR team and will have primary responsibilities to support Rise’s recruitment and onboarding efforts. The HR Generalist will help to foster a supportive, positive, efficient, engaged, and inclusive work environment by offering human resource services and consultation to employees and management. The Human Resources Generalist will also support the delivery of the HR Operations (including verifications of employment and wage notices), Compliance (including supporting Rise’s diversity and inclusion efforts), and Leave of Absence Administration functions.

Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with the HR Manager to proactively grow candidate pipeline through traditional and innovative sourcing methods including social media, community relationships and other emerging technology-based methods.
  • Manage applicant tracking system, Paylocity, including drafting, editing, approving and scheduling job postings.
  • Assist with managing positions management structure within Paylocity to ensure recruitment efforts stay within Rise's annual budget.
  • Coordinate the bi-weekly and quarterly new hire orientations trainings.
  • Ensure all open positions are posted to external job boards and manage efforts to repost and boost visibility of job postings to ensure adequate talent pipelines for Rise’s teams.
  • Assessing effectiveness of job posting advertisements and adjusting strategy as needed; build and maintain relationships with community diversity recruiters; monitor & handle search status changes, route / process applications.
  • Order, track, manage background check requests and motor vehicle record checks through Rise’s external vendor.
  • Advise, train and troubleshoot on system access and processes for hiring managers.
  • Provide thought leadership on recruitment at Rise and engage with program supervisors on best practices for recruiting new team members.
  • Research and maintain documentation of sourcing and recruiting methods used by successful competitors and other companies involved in recruiting from the same talent pool and implement those strategies which are a good fit for Rise.
  • Represent Rise at career and internship fairs, conferences and other networking events to recruit for team members and interns
  • Coordinate, attend and evaluate job fairs.
  • Conduct presentations on industry positions to schools and community partners.

HR Operations and Employee Relations

  • Assist the HR Manager to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Provide support on policy questions and problems relating to human resource functions.
  • Coordinate HR events, including participating in the Employee Recognition Committee.
  • Manage new employee welcome communications and contribute to welcome/onboarding strategy.
  • Support the HR Team in preparing job descriptions, documenting internal procedures, employee notices, and salary benchmarking and recommendations.
  • Respond to verifications of employment for staff and person served.
  • Support the Senior Human Resource Generalist in the management of Leave Administration.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Support the application of Rise’s compensation structure including providing guidance and making recommendations to front line managers on compensation issues and offers to candidates and interprets laws regulating compensation practices.
  • Assist the team during the Open Enrollment process, Rise’s Affordable Care Act Compliance, and benefit compliance including ERISA requirements.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience including prior experience in talent acquisition/ recruiting.
  • Knowledge of relevant local HR regulations and issues; core understanding of HR risk topics; familiarity with relevant HR systems.
  • Self-motivated, detailed-oriented individual with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exemplary judgment, discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking capability.
  • Sees multiple paths to solving a problem and does not get stuck.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential materials.
  • Available to work in office one day every other week and as/when needed.
  • Has a a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to job fairs and Rise locations when needed.
  • Meets compliance with the Department of Human Services Rule LL and Rise Motor Vehicle Record background checks required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • HR Certifications such as PHR or SHRM, preferred.
  • Prior nonprofit or social services organization industry experience.
