We're in the process of recruiting our first HR Generalist, who will play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for our HR department. This individual's contributions will be vital to addressing both our immediate and long-term business and personnel objectives, especially as we navigate through a phase of rapid growth. The HR Generalist will directly report to the CEO and collaborate extensively with the Board of Directors and various department managers.

This role demands a proactive approach, as the selected candidate will spearhead the efforts to create, evolve, and expand our HR capabilities from the ground up. The ability to engage in hands-on tasks is essential during the initial stages of this endeavor. Applicants must bring a solid recruitment background to support our expansion goals and possess a comprehensive understanding of systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate our scaling efforts effectively. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who can operate autonomously and navigate the challenges of an evolving workplace.
What you will be doing
Efficiently guiding and executing every stage of the recruitment journey. Collaboratively managing and supporting diverse Human Resources programs and initiatives. Initially work with the Board of Directors and CEO to develop Human Resource vision and personnel needs.
Recruiting and Staffing
- Facilitate and implement all phases of the recruitment process.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to identify recruiting methods and strategies.
- Complete external/internal postings and maintain all documentation relating to open positions.
- Screen and evaluate applicants’ qualifications, work history, education, and training and select qualified candidates for hiring manager review.
- Schedule and participate in interviews with hiring managers, and oversee preparation of hiring and selection materials.
- Collaborate with the hiring manager during the offer process, start dates, and other pertinent details.
- Manage job description maintenance, including revisions and development, as required.
- Conduct post-offer background checks and coordinate post-offer screenings.
- Completes surveys, open records requests, and employment verifications.
Compensation, Benefits and HR Systems
- Independently identify and recommend salary ranges for all job levels and skills.
- Manage our PEO services and act as first point of contact for issues related to our PEO services, conduct audits, run reports, troubleshoot problems, and maintain the integrity of the data housed in the system.
- Responsible for reviewing and processing bi-weekly timesheets, including monitoring and analyzing time and attendance data; responding to questions from employees or managers.
- Processes all pay and/or position changes with select PEO.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Collaboratively develop and manage the employee recognition program.
- Coordinate performance management programs including performance review and structured disciplinary processes.
- Assists in the communication, and interpretation of personnel policies.
- Maintains employee personnel files.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Training & Development
- Responsible for new hire orientation for all new hires.
- Assist with the planning, development, and delivery of structured training programs at all levels.
Office Administration / Other
- Recommend, plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate Human Resources programs.
- Acts as backup to other department personnel as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of reports and correspondence.
- Participates in and recommends continuous HR improvement initiatives.
What you will need to do it
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Public Administration, or related field, three (3) years of professional Human Resources experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures related to Human Resources practices, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources, including performance management system development and administration, recruitment and employment processes, and training.
- Effective interpersonal and business communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, utilize mature judgment, be courteous, work efficiently, and set and adjust priorities.
- Interpreting policies and procedures.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Working independently and as part of a team.
- Certified Human Resources Professional preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
