Position Description
The Human Resources Generalist position is responsible for developing, enhancing, and implementing Human Resources activities including, but not limited to, employee and/or labor relations, benefits administration, recruiting, safety coordination, training, employee record management, and special people projects as assigned. This role holds key responsibilities in managing risks, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.
Key Competencies Required to be Successful as a Human Resources Generalist
- Implement corporate HR policy at the business unit level. Drive company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., salary review, performance review, workforce planning, training & development etc.) ensuring compliance to policy and process.
- Owns the HR Support Help Desk (FreshWorks) and manages response to inquiries with appropriate solutions per established SLAs.
- Observes, monitors, collects and records employee data in appropriate systems, assessing accuracy, validity and integrity.
- Support hiring managers and Talent Acquisition with recruitment strategies and coordinate screening, interviewing, and offers of employment.
- Owns delivery of the new employee on-boarding process, providing a smooth entrance into the organization and ensuring timely completion of required initial training programs, providing a solid knowledge foundation to enhance retention of new talent.
- Conduct research, generate reports and analyze data on assigned projects.
- Assist HR and Company management in the development of people solutions through cultural and process perspective organizational development.
- Resolve employee relations issues through a systematic approach. Counsel employees and managers concerning work-related problems, conduct exit interviews, provide feedback to management.
- Maintains records for EEO and affirmative action reporting requirements.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation process to ensure the Company meets applicable state Worker’s Compensation requirements.
- Manage and maintain Leave of Absence processes to ensure we are compliant with Company policy and all state and federal laws.
- Coordinate temporary personnel requisitions based on Company policy and procedures. Work with supervisors to ensure compliance with temp agreements.
- As needed, manages or supports the coordination of special events at designated locations. This includes employee meetings, lunches, activities, etc.
- Demonstrate and encourage a cooperative and congenial working relationship between others, within and outside the company.
- Assist in special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Education/Certification/Licenses
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related study and four or more years of HR Generalist experience required.
- Expertise in HR principles and practices— PHR or SHRM-CP certification strongly preferred.
- Expansive knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws including FLSA, Wage and Hour, and Leave laws. Solid experience with CA laws required.
- Proficiency with operating in HRMS required; experience with UKG Pro and ADP WorkForce highly preferred.
