The Vice President of Network Pharmacy & Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) provides strategic, operational, and inclusive executive leadership for all University of Vermont Health Network (UVMHN) pharmacy services and programs.
The Network CPO sets the strategy for comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable pharmacy care delivery in rapidly changing scientific, business, and policy environments, prioritizing UVMHN goals in access, population health, and financial margin. The Network CPO supervises specialty, mail order, retail, contract, infusion, ambulatory care, acute care, home care, transitions of care, virtual, investigational drug, and other pharmacy programs across all UVMHN partners and sites, including UVM Medical Center (UVMMC), Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH), Central Vermont Medical Center (CVMC), Porter Medical Center (PMC), Elizabethtown Community Hospital (ECH), Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC), Home Health and Hospice (HHH), and Post-Acute Care facilities.
The Network CPO organizes Pharmacy functions and personnel to achieve high-quality, cost-effective, and efficient pharmacy services, including but not limited to clinical pharmacy, therapeutic service lines, formulary and utilization, medication safety, supply chain and inventory control, 340B, medication access, finance, residency training, and research. The Network CPO is responsible on a daily basis for all pharmacy operations and professional practice, technical, and administrative services. The Network CPO ensures oversight and compliance with the standards, regulations, and laws established by applicable licensing, accreditation, regulatory, and governmental bodies. The Network CPO collaborates with physician, nursing, allied health, and high value care leaders to improve patient access, clinical pathways, patient experience, and health outcomes.
EDUCATION:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited college or university
- Pharmacist licensure in Vermont and/or New York
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency is preferred
- M.S., M.H.A., M.B.A. or similar degrees or credentials are welcome
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 7 years as a pharmacist, with at least 5 years progressive leadership experience at the director level and above with responsibility for pharmacy programs and personnel
- Experience in an academic health system, academic medical center, or large integrated health system
- Experience working with colleges/schools of pharmacy
- Contemporary knowledge in pharmacy leadership, therapeutics, professional practice models and standards, safety and quality, population health, informatics, technology, supply chain, pharmacy revenue, healthcare regulations, pharmacy education programs, clinical trials, and the pharmaceutical industry-including biotech companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, contract research organizations, pharmacy benefit managers, and others
