Position Summary: Reporting to the HR Director, Operations & Transportation, the HR Generalist will be the on-site person responsible for HR at both the Philadelphia and DC operations. This role will partner in the main with the Operation Directors and Operations/Transportation management teams located at both sites to diagnose people needs, translate, and prioritize business priorities.
In addition, they will also provide HR support and guidance to the Sales and Finance personnel based in the region. The HR Generalist will provide insightful HR advice, problem-solving, hands-on guidance and direct support to the team, with a particular emphasis on employee relations, recruitment and performance management. This role is on-site with the ability to work hybrid.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and create job descriptions.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, from sourcing and screening candidates to conducting interviews, extending offers and onboarding.
  • Oversee new hire onboarding, including orientation, paperwork, and training coordination.
  • Collaborate with Transportation corporate team in reviewing MVR's, processing consumer reports (criminal, MVR) and processing Driver Qualification Files (DQ) in accordance with FMCSA/DOT guidelines.
  • Review and initiate pre and post adverse action letters in accordance with FCRA guidelines as applicable.
  • Act as a trusted resource for employees, addressing inquiries, concerns and conflicts.
  • Provide guidance and support in resolving employee relations issues and conflicts, promoting a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • Stay updated on federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Ensure company policies and practices are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures and provide guidance to employees and manager thereof.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and assist employees with benefit-related inquiries.
  • Support the compensation review process and provide recommendations for salary adjustments.
  • Assist in the performance management process, including goal setting, feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance improvement plans and development opportunities.
  • Advise and support line supervisors and managers with preparing and delivering formal performance/conduct and termination meetings and ensure all administration processes are completed.
  • Conduct disciplinary grievance and investigation reviews in accordance with Company guidelines.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs.
  • Assist in the creation of training materials and resources.
  • Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement.
  • Organize team-building activities and events.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and employee files in the HRIS (UKG Ready)
  • Conduct exit interviews and recommend corrective action if necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of HR reports and analytics.

Technology Skills:
  • Calendar and scheduling software - Microsoft Outlook

Knowledge:
  • Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.
  • English/Spanish Proficiency - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English and Spanish languages including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Law and Government - Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Work Activities:
  • Ability to travel onsite to various locations throughout the Northeast.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.

Desired Experience:
  • Bachelors' degree with at least 4 years of human resources experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in use of varied HRIS software and solutions inclusive of modular based systems for payroll and benefits administration, employee development, compliance, on-boarding, recruitment and other HR functions.
  • Experience of working in organizations where the workforce is predominantly hourly paid.
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing and monitoring human resource metrics through dash-boarding and reporting across the organization.
