Under the direction of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator functions as a generalist and strategic partner to support team members and leaders, ensuring alignment of HR support with Meridell's culture and business objectives.
The HR Coordinator provides professional level support to the HR Director related to the goals and objectives of the organization; assists in resolving conflicts to protect the organization’s assets. Ensures HR activities are in compliance with State and Federal laws, licensing and accreditation bodies, and facility contracts. Assists HRD with all HR functions including compensation, benefits, recruitment, training/orientation, employee relations, worker’s compensation and maintaining all personnel records in files and the HRIS.
The HR Specialist must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment in the Hospital/Healthcare space, with everchanging needs. Must be effective in written communications and presentations, action-oriented, strategic and a creative problem solver. Technical proficiency required for MS Office, ATS and HRIS systems.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related area is preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years' experience in Human Resources with strong experience in recruiting, healthcare experience is very highly preferred. Must have familiarity with HRIS systems and recruiting initiatives.
- At least three (3) years’ experience as a Human Resources Generalist, preferred in the hospital setting.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate in a clean and concise manner with employees, patients and the public, physicians and administrative personnel.
- Must have knowledge of relevant federal, state and local registration relating to Human Resources, i.e. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Affirmative Action, ADA, FMLA.
- Must have good analytical ability to interpret and analyze personnel and payroll statistics.
- Must be able to maintain an extremely high degree of confidentiality with all information that is made available through the Personnel Department.
- Must have computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS programs and other computer programs.
- Must have stable emotional makeup required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, being able to stay focused and task oriented.
Certification/Licensure: PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or CHHR certification preferred.
Professional Knowledge: Strong oral and written communication and advanced problem solving skills. Ability to apply high reliability principles ensuring efficient, effective, customer-centered processes and services resulting in targeted outcomes. Demonstrated abilities in project planning and management. Working knowledge of employment law (federal, state, and local). Ability to multi-task with accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in Human Resources in a healthcare setting is preferred. Strong customer service, organizational and planning skills with a keen attention to detail.
Interpersonal Skills: Interpersonal skills to foster a collaborative environment. Promotes mutual respect and professionalism in working relationships. Strong customer relations/customer complaint resolution skills required. Must maintain high level of confidentiality.
Equipment, Applications and Tools Knowledge: Advanced proficiency with MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. Proficiency in using standard office equipment.
Travel Requirements: Occasional to interact with staff at off-site locations and/or visit educational institutions and other recruitment sites.
