Project located in Eastern North Carolina. Staff may work remotely and must be willing to travel extensively in Eastern North Carolina within nine counties including: Craven, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Nash, Pitt, Tyrell and Washington. Valid NC driver’s license required.
Occupational Summary
Implement and coordinate various sexual and reproductive HEALTH EDUCATION activities through evidence-based programs (EBP) to prevent teen pregnancy in Eastern North Carolina in communities with the most need. Facilitate various EBP as well as additional youth empowerment, mindfulness, and mental health activities. Overall project goals are to: Improve sexual and reproductive health outcomes, promote positive youth development and advance health equity for adolescents, their families and communities through the replication of medically accurate and age-appropriate evidence-based teen pregnancy prevention programs (EBPs) and services.
Applicants must be comfortable and enjoy engaging with youth in multiple settings including: juvenile detention, foster care, community-based programs and school- based programs. Applicants should have a commitment to medically accurate, age appropriate, trauma informed and inclusive sexual and reproductive HEALTH EDUCATION for adolescents.
Work Performed
Coordinate and participate in educational and youth empowerment activities to meet the projected needs for 5-year grant project.
Provide organizational support for any projected parent/guardian and community engagement or other sexual HEALTH EDUCATION activities.
Maintain liaison with professional staff and other personnel to promote program interest and involvement in instruction and participation.
Assist in the implementation of on-going evaluations of education programs and activities.
Assist in the design and preparation of sexual and reproductive HEALTH EDUCATION materials and programs.
Refer program participants and their families to needed service providers in the community including reproductive health services, mental health services, LGBTQ+ support services, rape crisis services, domestic violence services, and food/housing services.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education/Training:
Work requires a bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Sociology or related health field.
Experience:
Work requires three years of experience in community or industrial health related work. A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field may substitute for the required experience on a 1:1 basis, that is a two year Master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
