Tobacco Cessation Support Specialist With LIVE FOR LIFEat Duke

16 hours/week, 0.4 FTE

Overview

LIVE FOR LIFE® at Duke is a comprehensive employee health improvement initiative that is focused on enhancing the health and productivity of the workforce by providing opportunities that make it easier to practice prevention and to take personal responsibility for their health.


Summary:

As a Tobacco Cessation Support Specialist with LIVE FOR LIFE, this role will support the Tobacco Cessation program offered through LIVE FOR LIFE to Duke employees and their dependents.


Tobacco Cessation Support Specialist

The specialist enrolls participants in LIVE FOR LIFE’s Tobacco Cessation support program, performs telephonic and written Tobacco Cessation counseling follow-up, sources and provides educational materials to participants, makes outside referrals where appropriate, and coordinates with clinicians for medication management. The Support Specialist is also responsible for coordinating events and participating in functions related to promotion of the Tobacco Cessation program for Duke University employees and their dependents. Additional responsibilities include record keeping, data tracking, report production, and outcomes tracking for this program.


Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health related discipline; excellent customer service skills; strong telephonic and written communication skills; and attention to detail. Additional requirements include comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current Health Education practices and guidelines for Tobacco Cessation support. Successful candidates for this role enjoy and excel at working independently and are passionate about helping others achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires a bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Sociology or related health field.


Experience


Work requires three years of experience in community or industrial health related work. A Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field may substitute for the required experience on a 1:1 basis, that is a two year Master's degree in lieu of two years of experience.
