Principal Responsibilities:

JCC Greater Boston, a nonprofit organization committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive community, is seeking a System/Network Administrator to join our IT team. The System/Network Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's computer systems and network infrastructure. Working closely with the VP of Technology, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all technology resources at JCC Greater Boston.

This full-time position has a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. The starting salary for this position is $95K - $103K annually. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.

The primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the organization's network infrastructure:
    • Configure routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and security cameras
    • Ensure the security, integrity, and availability of network infrastructure
    • Ensure traffic is properly segregated between networks
    • Ensure equipment is kept up to date on updates and security best practices
  • Manage the organization's computing hardware:
    • Install, configure, and maintain servers
    • Support desktop support staff with the process to configure workstations and laptops
    • Lead ongoing efforts to move services to cloud-based options
  • Perform system administration tasks, including:
    • Active Directory user account management
    • Data backup and recovery
    • System performance monitoring
    • DNS configuration
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • Collaborate with VP of Technology to develop and implement technology strategies
  • Assist with the management of IT equipment inventory and licensing compliance

Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system/network administration or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy
  • Proficiency in server virtualization technologies, such as VMware
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, especially experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises the IT Desktop Support Technician

Supervisory responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Managing the IT Desktop Support Technician in alignment with our performance management program.
  • Identifying key areas of growth, including professional development, and creating individual goals aligned with the expectations of the JCC Performance Management program.
  • Conduct supervisory meetings weekly to provide ongoing guidance, direction, supervision, and mentorship.
  • Conduct quarterly meetings to oversee progress on annual goals.
  • Write and conduct a mid-year and end-of-year performance review with input from the direct report.
  • Build and maintain a positive working relationship to achieve desired outcomes and the ongoing professional growth of the direct report.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC's discretion to meet minimum criteria.

  • Works well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.

  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.

Physical Requirements:

Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Able to sit and kneel as needed in dealing with equipment.
