Summary: The Fund Development Manager is responsible for leading the Development function at SVDP. This position is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of neighbors. This position will focus on passion for causes that assist in alleviating poverty, immigrant needs, housing stability and food security.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position shall include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop, implement and lead an annual fundraising plan.
- Maintain donor and foundation prospecting and cultivation processes.
- Identify and cultivate new and existing donors and foundation prospects through suggestions existing donors through targeted outreach, communications, and event strategies.
- Develop and coordinate year end appeal and other possible forms of communication related to fundraising
- Staffing/supporting fundraising committee of the board.
- Organize and lead the SVDP annual fund-raising event. Work with the Board and Staff to identify and secure event sponsorships, developing event program, securing venue and catering, and managing guest registration.
- 25% of the role will focus on Foundation and Government grants prospecting and writing.
- Prepare development communications, including emails to Board and committee members, meeting minutes, draft solicitation letters, quarterly donor updates or newsletters, and acknowledgement letters
- Database Management; Create reports from the database to assist and inform fundraising efforts.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive donor communications. Excellent verbal communication skills (in-person and via telephone); ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of Board members, Staff, and other key stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to develop project work plans, handle multiple concurrent assignments, and meet deadlines
- Work with board members, fundraising committee members, event committee members and campaign committee members as appropriate.

Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least 3 years of fundraising or related experience. It is highly desirable that experience includes at least two working in a not for profit environment (or equivalent)
Language Ability
Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills, organization skills and ability to prioritize and meet competing deadlines.
Math Ability
The individual in this position must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must be able to understand common financial reports, payroll records, and cash management reports.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to solve practical problems quickly and in situations where there is limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Computer proficiency using Microsoft Office software is required i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with client-based software and email communications will be essential to regular communications and reporting.
