Salary: $88,483.20 to $142,459.20  

Typically, selected candidates are hired at a salary rate between the minimum and midpoint of the range.

Position Summary

Under limited supervision this position supports the development and implementation of Grant PUD’s Asset Management System. Works with a variety of stakeholders to build and optimize Asset Management plans for specific asset types. Facilitates the documentation of business processes for asset and work management and works with IT to automate these processes in Enterprise Asset Management Software. Promotes Asset Management across the business.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Utilities’ corporate objectives by executing an Asset Management System in Operations. The Senior Asset Management Specialist serves as the technical lead for the Asset Management department. The Senior Asset Management Specialist may be required to directly perform any of the following duties or oversee and train other members of the Asset Management Team in the performance of the following duties (not a comprehensive list):  
  • Prepare Asset Management Plans establishing integrated acquisition, maintenance, renewal, replacement, and disposal strategies in consultation with all contributing departments. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for collecting, storing, maintaining, and analyzing Asset Data and Information. 
  • Model asset whole life costs. Monitor, forecast, and report on asset costs in support of asset decision making. 
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Risk Department to develop a risk framework for each asset type which translates asset risk into dollars. 
  • Develop asset condition rating guidelines with input from Maintenance and Engineering. Oversee and support the collection of asset condition data and forecast the health of the overall Asset Portfolio. 
  • Map out common failure modes and causes for each asset type. Oversee the collection and analysis of asset failure data. Compile asset failure reports. Use failure data to recommend improvements to future asset plans. 
  • Work closely with Grant PUD IT staff and affected stakeholders to identify the functional requirements for Enterprise Asset and Work Management software tools including the use of iPads for field personnel. Support the implementation and ongoing use of the appropriate software tools. 
  • Promote Asset Management across the District through training, facilitation of discussions, and the use of written and verbal communication including presenting. 
  •  Monitor the execution of Asset Plans and Strategies. Verify compliance with the program and verify that the expected outcomes are being realized. Recommend adjustments as needed. 

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field with three years of relevant experience or successful completion of at least one electric utility apprenticeship with 3 years of experience at the journey level or; an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Special focus in business analytics, operations and maintenance, risk management, utility operations, root cause analysis, corrective action programs, continuous improvement programs, or other related fields required.  

License and Certification

Required

  • Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Certificate required with the ability to earn the IAM Diploma within 12 months of hire.  
  • A valid State driver’s license is required. 

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Grant PUD policies and procedures, Federal and State Rules, internal controls  
  • Equipment used in the operations and maintenance of electric and fiber systems  
  • ISO 55000 and the Institute for Asset Management 39 subjects  
  • Broad Knowledge of business, operations, and engineering within an electric utility context  
  • Written and oral communication, report writing, developing presentations and proposals, facilitation, interpersonal skills, listening, empathy, leadership, strategic planning, coordinating, problem solving, organizing, using sound judgment, managing time and workload, attention to detail, decision making, work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment, data analysis, risk analysis, cause analysis, MS Office, Maximo, GIS, process design and implementation. 

Physical Requirements

  • Position may be eligible for hybrid work arrangement: Yes  No  
  • Per Grant County PUD policy all employees are required to work at their designated headquarters at least two days per week.

  • Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting. 
  • Will require approximately 10% of the time in the field during data acquisition and investigations. 
  • Typical shift of employees in this position: 8 hours  9 hours  10 hours  12 hours
