Job Description: Front Office Coordinator
Overview
The Front Office Coordinator is the first face and voice that our patients encounter when contacting our office. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is able to work independently, has excellent communication and organizational skills all while showing compassion for our patients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Greet patients upon arrival; answer phones; patient registration and appointment scheduling, check-in and check-out.
- Direct visitors and vendors appropriately.
- Prepare and review patient charts including reminder calls and tele-health appointments.
- Receive and distribute patient paperwork upon arrival.
- Manage incoming faxes and referrals, distribute appropriately.
- Process outgoing referrals in a timely manner.
- Responsible for handling medical records requests.
- Request and scan outside patient records, including cardiac clearance requests.
- Collect co-payments and past due balances, responsible for cash handling.
- Follow procedures for opening and closing of the office. Maintain the reception area.
- Maintain a pleasant and cooperative demeanor while performing all duties.
- Keep an open line of professional communication with co-workers and providers regarding patient needs.
- Optimize patient satisfaction and providers’ time by following appointment scheduling guidelines.
- Comfort patients by answering questions and anticipating their needs.
- Maintain patient accounts by updating personal and financial information.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for protecting the confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma/GED required, post-secondary education or training preferred.
- Previous medical office experience is preferred.
- Previous EMR experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with insurance coverage and benefits is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills, ability to prioritize job duties and multi-task.
- Ability to handle high patient volumes in a professional manner.
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
