The Fleet Manager is responsible for providing fleet management support service to all assigned Turnpoint brand operations within a defined geographic area. Manages all aspects of the asset lifecycle to include vehicle acquisition, titles and registration, maintenance and disposal. Works closely with fleet management company, vendor partners and brand fleet coordinators to establish best practices and develop enabling tools, programs, and training to bring standardization, best value, and lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to the brands. Has responsibility to partner with Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs) and General Managers to plan and execute a best-in-class asset management system to support the ongoing growth of Turnpoint.
Specific duties will include;
- Anticipates brand Capex needs based on business growth and annual people plans to ensure timely vehicle ordering, upfit and delivery to maintain business continuity and support a culture of rapid growth
- Manage and oversee maintenance and repairs with partnered fleet management company. Develop solutions as needed to maintain fuel and repair expenses within acceptable thresholds
- Track and monitor truck utilization with telematics solution
- Plan and execute annual asset audit to identify condition of all existing assets and determine priorities for replacement for asset that have reached end of life
- Educate, inform, coach and mentor develop brand fleet coordinators
- Manages key vendor relationships with fleet management company, OEMs, upfitters, dealer networks and key vendor partners
- Perform research to determine new, innovative methods and vendors to improve our truck and equipment operation and performance (EV solutions for example)
- Perform weekly and monthly Capex Reports to show at a high level the status of both current and outstanding Capex spending
- Maintain fleet within required compliance standards (ie DOT, EPA)
- Maintain strong partnerships with EHS and HR teams to improve the safety of the fleet and drivers and minimize vehicle accidents and related costs
- Support continuous improvement projects as needed with key vendor partners and cross functional Turnpoint team members
Qualifications
- 8 – 10 years fleet management experience in a distributed services environment
- Servant leader
- Ability to travel domestically (up to 50% of time)
- Experienced with design, development, and execution of procurement strategies
- Excellent fact gathering and analytical skills
- Above average Microsoft platform skills (excel, PowerPoint etc..)
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Customer focused; team oriented
- Ability to influence without formal authority
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Project management skills
- CAFM certification is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
