The full-time Engagement Coordinator will be a position in partnership with the Development and Communications Department directly impacting the Chicagoland Area.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Communications, the Engagement Coordinator’s basic function is to be responsible for overseeing the volunteer program, in-kind donation program and Erie Associate Board. The Engagement Coordinator will also represent Erie House at fairs to engage external stakeholders in the mission, as well as other fundraising duties.

Requirements:

Volunteer Management

· Oversee the implementation plan to cultivate individual and group volunteers through various initiatives

· With support of the Senior Director of Development & Communications, develop policies and procedures to formalize and grow Erie House’s volunteer program

· Create an environment of teamwork and appreciation and develop specific recognition events

· Provide training and orientation to volunteers about the mission and goals of Erie House

· Collaborate with staff to develop a spectrum of volunteer opportunities meeting Erie House’s programs and administrative needs

· Provide on-site volunteer supervision for all volunteer groups

· Conduct follow-up with volunteers to capture feedback, provide acknowledgement and ensure retention

· Coordinates projects and ensures the necessary planning is executed, including staff preparation, supplies, and defined volunteer work assignments

· Oversee Erie House’s volunteer@eriehouse.org email

· Co-lead all logistics pertain to Erie House’s major volunteer event, Holidays with Heart, and any new opportunities and events as applicable

· Work with the Marketing & Communications team to coordinate communication and marketing tools for volunteer events

· Work with Senior Director of Development & Communications to establish and meet volunteer goals

In-kind Donation Program

· Serve as point person for in-kind donation program

· Generate and provide quarterly and annual reports

· Work with Program Directors to identify program wish list needs

· Oversees data entry and prepares acknowledgement letters

· In partnership with the Senior Director of Development & Communications, review in-kind donors on a quarterly and annual basis to assess best avenue to cultivate through the donor pipeline

Erie Associate Board (EAB)

· Serve as Staff Liaison for the Erie House’s young professional board

· Collaborate with EAB Co-Chairs to coordinate meetings, finalize agenda, and support with overall direction and strategy for board

· Work with Special Events & Donor Relations Coordinator to co-plan board’s Annual Goose Island Fundraiser

· Supports with planning and attends Annual Retreat in May

· Work with Senior Director of Development & Communications to establish annual plan and goals

Development & Fundraising

· Represents Erie House at agency and other events, as necessary or required; mandatory attendance at annual dinner and at least one other Development and Communications event.

· Other related duties as required or assigned.


Work experience in nonprofit setting preferred.

Educational requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, or similar skill required; or a minimum of two years’ experience in nonprofit development.

Technical skills:

· 1-3 years of progressively successful development experience, preferably in a community-based nonprofit organization.

· Familiarity with orchestration and implementation of events.

· Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.

· Possession of strong organizational and communication skills is essential.

· Demonstrates the following qualities: self-motivated; self-directed.

· Positive, outgoing personality.

· Standard office equipment and software. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint).

· Knowledge of databases is a plus.

· Strong contributor in team environments; ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
