Job description

Scope of Position

The Employee Relations & Engagement Manager is responsible for enhancing the quality of the work environment and maximizing employee engagement and productivity. He/she will be responsible for focusing on delivering HR services that meet or exceed the needs of Associates, enabling business success managing and maintaining employer-Employee Relationships. They will work closely with employees to resolve issues, provide guidance on employee policies and procedures, ensure compliance with employment laws, and serve as the primary point of contact for Employee Relations matters. This position is also responsible for promoting positive employee engagement and retention to make Caribe Royale Orlando and Buena Vista Suites a destination employer of choice.


Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years related experience in human resources management.
  • 5+ years' experience in Employee Relations supporting 500 employees or more.
  • 2+ years of planning employee events and or engagement activities for large groups.
  • Professional, creative, and high-energy demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.
  • Experience with an emphasis on conflict resolution and Employee Relations grievances.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous budget experience is a plus.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all Associates and any external customers.
  • Develop resolutions to associate relations issues by providing advice, research (including investigations), and guidance to management and associates, while ensuring compliance with policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Consult and provide advice, counsel, and resolution to employees and managers on board a range of Employee Relations matters, including policy interpretation and application, conflict resolution, performance management, progressive discipline, grievance, and termination processes and practices.
  • Lead thorough and timely investigations in a manner that respects all concerned while balancing the business needs.
  • Documents and communicates recommendations and outcomes.
  • Reviews and analyzes system-wide employee and operational statistics on HR compliance-related concerns, complaint investigations, compliance calls, turnover, and employee engagement to identify trends and areas of potential escalation, and recommends interventions, as appropriate.
  • Recognizes patterns and anticipates employee-related issues; develops, recommends, and initiates appropriate steps for resolution following policies and procedures.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
  • Manage the rollout of company surveys, review the results, and work with the company leaders to create actionable plans.
  • Develop and execute an annual engagement calendar.
  • Monitor employee recognition program and annual/quarterly calendar of team building events that drive employee satisfaction.
  • Continually assess engagement program needs and develop new initiatives to ensure new creative ideas and thoughts are heard by our frontline teams.
  • Partners with our events team to oversee the planning and execution of all Associate events.
  • Assists in maintaining effective Associate communication channels on the property (e.g., develops daily communications and assists with regularly scheduled property-wide meetings).
  • Attend monthly department meetings to provide Human Resources information and updates to associates.
  • Promotes positive employee engagement and retention to make a destination employer of choice.
  • Responsible for managing company-wide employee engagement initiatives.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related major.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate in the English language. A second language is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and work independently.
  • Experience using computers and software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).


Physical Requirements

  • Continuously, sit or stand at a desk for long periods in front of a computer screen.
  • Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding the desk.
  • Use the telephone and computer keyboard daily.
  • Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
