Distribution Service Representative Job Description
Hiring Schedule:
Monday - Friday 2:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
Occasional coverage 2:45 p.m.-11:00 p.m. shift Monday-Friday
Approximately 40 hours a week with some overtime required (paying double time for overtime. May be subject to change).
Must be able to work every third Saturday (with Friday off).
Must be able to work a rotating holiday schedule.
Must be able to cover after hours on-call for one week at a time every 6-8 weeks when fully staffed.
When on-call, must be able to arrive at the work location 220 W. Plainview Rd. Springfield, MO 65810 within 15 minutes to respond to calls and notifications. Must be able to respond to calls during evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays when on call.
Training schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. for the first 8-12 weeks of employment
Full Time Benefits:
$500 Sign-on bonus after 6 months of employment
$500 Sign-on bonus after 1 year of employment
Starting pay: $17.00 - $18.00 DOE

Duties and Responsibilities:
Dispatching - Receives incoming calls and processes orders in a timely manner.
Monitors inventory in center and at hospital locations to assure appropriate use of blood products.
Informs supervisor/designee of problem patients and/or inventory situations.
Packing orders - Requires accuracy in selection of units.
Has knowledge of acceptable temperatures for storage and shipment.
Does visual inspection of units according to procedures.
Selects miscellaneous transfusion supplies and accurately selects pharmaceutical orders according to lot number.
Uses appropriate shipping specifications for biohazard shipments.
Makes deliveries as required.
Stocking - Stocks inventory in orderly manner as it is released from the processing laboratory.
Stocks plasma products as directed.
Re-organizes existing inventory as new inventory is released.
Unpacks, visually inspects and appropriately processes returned inventory.
Performs irradiation as needed.
Department paperwork - Completes accurate information for order logs, special requests, etc.
Must write legibly, be thorough and consistent.
Requires a thorough understanding of the current computer system used for managing inventory, distributing products and billing customers.
Equipment - Maintains accurate temperature records of storage equipment.
Advises supervisor of any malfunctions, temperatures or conditions not meeting requirements.
Assists in maintenance and sanitation of equipment.
Follows-up on delivery problems.
Date/time stamps and delivers specimens.
Maintains clean, orderly work area.
Evaluates the need for and orders departmental supplies.
Rotates being on call and completing all necessary tasks while covering in a timely manner.
Provides excellent customer service, cultivating positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers and external customers.
Exhibits safety, accuracy, respectfulness and efficiency within specific job tasks.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Must be a high school graduate or equivalency.
Must have a current class E driver’s license, clean driving record, and be able to be fully insured by the agency auto insurance carrier.
Must be able to arrive at the center within approximately 15 minutes when on-call.
Must write legibly.
Must possess superior phone skills.
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
Must be confident and be able to make decisions based on facts available.
Computer skills are required.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds.
