Essential Functions:
- Receives and dispatches emergent and non-emergent calls for the EMS system
- Records, documents, and reviews dispatched calls and radio traffic for quality assurance
- Participates in dispatcher meetings and training as required on a recurring basis
- Maintains and keeps an up-to-date equipment inventory of all physical property as it pertains to the dispatch operation
- Performs daily operation and required data maintenance of the Computer Aided Dispatch service, radio, recorder, and other dispatch systems Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Use logic and demonstrate well-developed phone, in-person, and written communication skills
- Monitor/assess performance of self to make improvements Demonstrate excellence in critical thinking, communication, and conflict resolution
Education and Experience
- Experience in the field of EMS or public safety, preferred
- Two years’ experience in two-way radio systems, preferred
- Experience as an EMT or Paramedic, preferred
- Experience in a call center, preferred High school graduate or diploma
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing
- Ability to write, talk, and hear with moderate ambient noise
- Memorization/concentration, learning/knowledge retention, preparing/analyzing data, use of interfaced communication devices (phones, computers, radios, etc), emotional and behavioral self-regulation, interacting with others, high stress situations
- Able to lift up to 50lbs
