About the role:
In this role, you will work closely with administrative and academic leaders at OHSU and the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to develop and implement approved philanthropic funding goals and objectives involving clinical services, hospital operations, research, and community education.
How you will be spending your time:
- Qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individuals, corporate sponsors, and foundation donor prospects from pipeline.
- Developing strategies for engaging and upgrading patient partner prospects and current and lapsed donors, with the goal of increasing major and principal gift commitments and expanding the major and principal gift donor pipeline for pediatrics.
- Establishing productive partnerships within assigned departments and programs; provide coaching on philanthropic principles and tactics, and partner with faculty and/or staff to identify potential fundraising opportunities and develop cases for giving.
- Maintaining an informed understanding of the science, research and initiatives in assigned programs in order to facilitate communication between faculty and donors.
- Collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to develop and maximize strategies to secure various types of gifts – annual support, deferred gifts, principal-level gifts – and gifts from various constituents, such as corporations and private foundations.
- In partnership with Research and Prospect Management, evaluating patient data in assigned programs and identify potential major gift prospects for further research and cultivation.
- Collaborating with internal partners on the development of fundraising materials, including proposals, solicitations, acknowledgments and reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 7+ years fundraising experience, especially in major and planned gifts.
- Proven knowledge of all aspects of Development including major gifts, planned gifts, campaigns, annual giving, direct marketing, and volunteer management.
- Experience in health care/education is preferred.
- Ability to understand and effectively manage complex issues related to medical education and research in a multi-tiered, academic medical institution.
- Proven knowledge of all aspects of Development including major gifts, planned gifts, campaigns, annual giving, direct marketing, pipeline development, and volunteer management.
- Demonstrated success at cultivating and closing major gifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively with many different constituencies, especially physicians, academic community, trustees, business leaders and volunteers.
- Ability to organize time effectively, establish priorities and manage a large number of tasks simultaneously.
- Sound judgment and a deep to commitment to high professional standards and ethics.
- Strong degree of accountability and ownership of programs, projects, and outcomes.
- Compassionate and culturally-responsive; maintains an ability to work with internal and external individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and CRM systems.
