About This Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Policy, Evaluation, and Market Development. This director-level role is a key member of the Market Development team and will play an integral role in leading Demand Side Management (DSM) Policy and Evaluation, contributing to new program designs, and leading strategic Marketing for Utility DSM. This is a new role within Cascade and there is excitement for the impact the Director of Policy, Evaluation, and Market Development will have on the growth of Cascade Energy.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Advocating for well-designed energy policy and evaluation frameworks that help utilities and regulators efficiently and effectively meet their big-picture goals:
    • Analyze industry trends and regulatory policies impacting the DSM sector, including those that impact utility customer participants
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry groups, evaluators, and utilities to stay updated on changes that impact Cascade, DSM programs, and key elements of our market space
    • Proactively influence policy, rules, and processes.
    • Proactively participate in and influence the evaluation process for programs of interest to the company
  • Collaborating with Strategy and Products in the design of new energy and decarbonization programs:
    • Identify external market threats and opportunities for Cascades existing and planned products and services are uniquely positioned to address
    • Support efforts to differentiate Cascade/Energy Sensei from competitors
    • Create a vision of market gaps and customer pain points that are opportunities to address
    • Advise on productization of our services plus technology
  • Leading strategic marketing for Utility DSM:
    • Product/Service Development support
    • Networking and lead generation
    • Thought leadership
    • Market Intelligence
    • Marketing- promotion/development
    • Reporting

This is a full-time, exempt position preferably located in the Portland OR area. We are also open to non-Portland candidates with a willingness to travel regularly. Travel for conferences, shows, meeting customers etc. is anticipated at 25% - 50% for this role.
Qualifications
Applicants for this role are required to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Business, Policy, or the Social Sciences
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant role, with a track record of Market Development, energy policy, and program evaluation
  • Experience in the energy industry including experience with Strategic Energy Management (SEM) and Measurement & Verification (M&V)

Compensation & Benefits
Our total rewards include competitive pay and excellent benefits. These include health (90% paid for team member, 70% paid for dependents on HDHP plans and 85% paid for team member, 65% paid for dependents on PPO plans), vision, FSA or HSA options with an employer contribution, life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, paid parental leave, 401k retirement plan with a guaranteed 3% contribution, Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP), annual cash performance bonus, paid vacation, sick time, and an inclusive, flexible paid holiday policy. New for 2024 - we are excited to add an additional wellbeing contribution of $500 for HSA, FSA, or LSA (Lifestyle Spending Account).
The salary range for this position in Portland, Oregon is $140,000 - $188,000/year. However, final salary offered may vary depending on non-discriminatory factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experiences, and geographical location if different than the above.
