As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Director of Construction, Facilities, and Asset Management to play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and growth of our cafes.
The Role:
As the Director of Construction, Facilities, and Asset Management, your primary responsibility is to oversee and enhance all aspects of our cafes' construction project management, facilities maintenance, and Asset Management functions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, especially our architects, engineers, designers, and builders, to ensure that our new cafe opening construction projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This pivotal role is also integral to maintaining and enhancing the physical environments of our cafes, aligning with our commitment to positive eating.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Project Management:
- Work with key internal stakeholders and manage the preparation of schedules for review/approval
- Partner with internal stakeholders and third-party consultants to ensure thorough due diligence is performed for projects
- Advise design team/consultants/vendors during design development phase, on matters related to constructability, means and methods, and cost. Bring in contractors for additional input as needed
- Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
- Coordinate and oversee all construction activities, ensuring compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and maintain effective communication with stakeholders
- Manage project risks, identify potential obstacles, and propose solutions to ensure successful project completion
Facilities Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of our cafes' physical space, ensuring it reflects our standards
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure optimal functionality of equipment and facilities
- Manage vendor relationships, including maintenance contractors, cleaning services, and landscaping
- Implement sustainability initiatives to minimize the restaurant's environmental footprint
- Accountable for management, growth, and development of 1-2 Facilities Managers in our markets
Asset Management:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of restaurant assets, including kitchen equipment, furniture, and décor
- Develop and implement asset lifecycle management strategies to optimize asset performance and cost-effectiveness
- Manage procurement processes for new assets and cafe equipment
- Oversee asset disposal or replacement when necessary
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the annual real estate and facilities budgets
- Partner with Finance to prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for construction projects, as well as maintain open communication throughout the project to ensure accurate and timely payment of vendor invoices
- Monitor project expenses, track costs, and implement effective cost control and value engineering decisions
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and sustainability standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Management, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Proven experience in real estate management, facilities management, and Asset Management, preferably in the restaurant or hospitality industry
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and a commitment to eco-friendly practices
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in using facilities management software and tools
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to read, interpret, and redline construction drawings, specifications and other technical documents, as well as proficiency with business/legal documents such as leases and vendor contracts
- Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously, and in multiple markets
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage general contractors, specialty vendors, and other professionals providing services for construction projects
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Benefits:
- Vacation Time: 10 days (2 weeks) accrued monthly
- Annual Bonus: This incentive program rewards you for the achievement of both personal performance and overall Company goals. To be eligible for this position incentive target, you must be employed at the time of the payout, which typically occurs no later than March following the performance year. Your annual incentive target will be 10% of your base annual salary and prorated based on your effective start date. You must be hired prior to October 1 of a given year to be eligible for a prorated bonus payout for that year
