International OCD Foundation Director of Communications & Digital Strategy — Job Description
Job Summary:
The Director of Communications and Digital Strategy will develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to significantly increase public awareness about OCD and related disorders, in addition to the International OCD Foundation; and to support the communications, marketing and advertising of the IOCDF to promote and amplify its programs, events, and resources to the larger community. This role reports to the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
The Director of Communications & Digital Strategy should have a minimum of 10 years of high level communications experience, preferably within a healthcare or mental health field or at a nonprofit organization. The ability to identify target audiences and measure the impact of the IOCDF’s strategies to increase visibility across a variety of communities is essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.
- Experience with media relations, public relations, social media and other forms of public relations engagement.
- Experience in nonprofit, health care, or mental health fields.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, strong sensitivity to deadlines, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills are a must.
- Experience managing a team and overseeing multiple direct reports.
- Thrives in a dynamic work environment with competing priorities, which at times will require rapid response and leadership with crisis communications.
- Highly collaborative working style, with the ability to excel within a team-based work environment.
- Experience in content management, creation, and storytelling, through multiple mediums (written, video, other).
- Experience in liaising with news reporters, public figures, senior leaders, board members, advocates and other external stakeholders is preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Expert in analytical data tracking, KPIs, benchmarks, and reporting.
- Experience with modern social media standards and tools.
- Experience with Wordpress is a plus.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is a plus.
- Familiarity with Salesforce CRM is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy, and an annual work plan to significantly increase public awareness about OCD and related disorders, and the International OCD Foundation, that is aligned to the organization’s 5-year strategy in consultation with the Executive Director and other stakeholders.
- Serve on the leadership team of a growing organization and help reinforce principles of trust, transparency, accountability, data-driven decision-making, and kindness.
- Lead a team with responsibilities across multiple functions including communications, digital marketing, graphic design, media and technology; assist with content development in all of these areas.
- Set quantitative and qualitative metrics and analyze results to evaluate the effectiveness of the department that are aligned with the IOCDF’s goals and long-term strategy.
- Support the IOCDF’s public relations and crisis communications needs with the Communications Manager and members of the leadership team.
- Review the organization’s crisis management plan annually.
- Optimize and directly manage vendor relationships and contracts related to the department.
- Develop new iterations and themes for ongoing initiatives, including (direct mail campaigns, the IOCDF Annual Conference theme, and the IOCDF quarterly newsletter).
