The Director of Business Development takes full ownership of the sales process with responsibility for identifying and developing new business opportunities, negotiating and securing pricing agreements, and establishing lasting industry partnerships. The Director collaborates closely with PortCity team members to design solutions for a remarkable customer experience. This position is charged to hunt new customers, bundle PortCity’s portfolio of products and services, and generate multiple new revenue streams. Travel will be required (up to 50%) to visit and entertain customers, attend industry conferences, and for periodic internal meetings onsite at PortCity’s Savannah GA, Greer SC, and Wilmington NC locations.
Location: PortCity’s Savannah, GA corporate headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage research and lead generation tools to facilitate prospecting efforts for securing new business that aligns with PortCity’s business model.
- Build and maintain a consistently robust pipeline, reporting to PortCity leadership weekly.
- Present customers with innovative supply chain solutions through a consultative sales approach.
- Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders, while understanding how to align client needs with strategic solutions.
- Retain a strong understanding of industry trends and developments with keen ability to identify and effectively communicate new market opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or relevant field.
- A strong solution seller with minimum 5 years of experience in outside sales; preferably in the warehousing, drayage, NVOCC, freight forwarding, or maritime industry.
- An exceptional relationship builder with excellent verbal and written communication, organization skills, and an entrepreneurial mentality.
- Experienced with use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- A self-motivator fully accountable for results with a proven track record of successfully developing and closing new business deals.
- Strong work ethic with an understanding of, and adherence to, PortCity’s mission and core values in all business decisions and interactions.
