PATH is seeking candidates passionate about helping others make a positive change in their lives to join our Accounts Payable team as the Director of Accounts Payable at the RHC Office.

ABOUT PATH
Since its foundation in 1984, PATH (People Assisting The Homeless) has pioneered bold and effective approaches to assist people experiencing homelessness. PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the Accounts Payable team, the Director of Accounts Payable and Financial Systems oversees the processing and payment of all payables to clients (approx. $35M), vendors and credit card companies (approx. $30M), and employees (excluding payroll), and manages the financial systems that PATH relies on for payables management. The company relies on Accounts Payable data externally for grant invoicing and internally for performance analysis, and the ideal candidate will be a proven leader and strategic thinker who has led an Accounts Payable department for a fast growing non-profit organization with a complex chart of accounts and who brings many proven ideas on how to improve PATH's payables processes and systems to deliver more accurate and timely data and to manage financial risk. This position requires the candidate to be comfortable working in a demanding role requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Guide the PATH Accounts Payable department to become a best-in-class function and exceed the requirements of both internal and external clients, in a complex and fast growth environment.
  • Manage a team of approximately 25 staff that (1) process client financial assistance, (2) process Accounts Payable, and (3) ensure payables data accuracy and fiscal compliance.
  • Provide leadership to PATH finance, program, and support departments on all payables matters.
  • Critically evaluate existing payables processing policies, systems, and procedures and implement creative solutions to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of PATH's AP processing.
  • Enhance processes to optimize payment schedules and accurately allocate expenses to specific programs or grants.
  • Identify opportunities for increased automation and technology integration to streamline workflows and grant tracking.
  • Be the point person internally and externally for all financial systems – Intacct accounting, Filebound file management, Nexonia and Divvy (Bill Pay and Spend) credit card management.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to implement a purchase order system within our accounting system.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to complete the Salesforce grant management system.
  • Support compliance with grant audit monitoring and reviews related to Accounts Payable processes and grant funding.
  • Perform regular analysis of Accounts Payable data to provide insights into performance and accuracy, and prepare and present regular reports on Accounts Payable activities and compliance to senior management.
  • Maintain strict compliance with internal controls, non-profit accounting regulations, and grant reporting requirements.
  • Work with the Controller and CFO to manage PATH's cash flow.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Communication: Convey information clearly and effectively (both verbally and in writing) to individuals and groups in a manner that informs, engages and maintains their attention.
  • Creativity and Initiative: Take action and make decisions without being prompted, demonstrating a proactive approach to work and a willingness to take on additional responsibilities. Think outside the box, generating innovative solutions to problems or challenges.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Analyze and evaluate information and situations, identify key issues, consider alternatives, and make logical decisions based on sound reasoning that will achieve the desired outcome.
  • Ethics and Boundaries: Maintain ethical and professional standards, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and a commitment to doing the right thing in all situations while maintaining professional boundaries.
