Work arrangement:
Hybrid : This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center, Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The role:
As a Hard Trim and Overhead Systems DRE, you will be responsible to develop and integrate Hard Trim and Overhead components into the vehicle interior. Specific component integration that you will be responsible for include:
Hard Trim components.
Overhead systems components.
What You’ll Do:
This position involves responsibility for development activities throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle including:
Definition of requirements
Execution of design
Testing and validation
This role requires an experienced engineer to lead and drive a cross-functional product development team including collaboration with the following groups:
Within Engineering
Interior Restraints Systems
Body Systems
CCC Overhead and Hard Trim components
Electrical System
HVAC System
Cargo Management System
Outside of Engineering
Creative Design
Purchasing
Manufacturing
Quality
Suppliers
The role requires 5-20% domestic and international travel.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Minimum 5+ years of experience developing and executing garnish Hard Trim or Overhead Systems
Balancing business imperatives, including but not limited to cost, mass, complexity, and timing
Comfort working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams
Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and rapid change in a results-driven environment
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) :
5 or more years of DRE experience
Knowledge of plastic materials, compression molding and injection molding
Familiarity with structured problem solving methods such as Red-X
Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
