Work Arrangement :
Hybrid : Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite at a mimimum of three (3) days each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)
The Role:
As a Hardware Design Release Engineer for SDV2.0 Aggregator/Extender to support Ultifi, you will be responsible for leading product development and integration activities including gathering, negotiating, updating, and documenting requirements, execution of design, and support of the analysis, development,
testing and validation. You will participate in highly complex problems using quantitative and qualitative data to find solutions. You will also be responsible for leading and developing strategic solutions to achieve business initiatives.
You will be responsible for managing multiple part numbers to ALL SDV2.0 GM vehicles with DREs, Product owners and TSs.
What You’ll Do:
Compliant with technical specifications and standard best practices that is on-time and with quality. Responsible for hardware drawings and parts lists
Write electronic Statement of Requirements for sourcing and provide technical expertise during purchasing process
Manage all changes during development including negotiations with suppliers and internal key stakeholders and updating requirement documents
model sourcing and deliveries with 3rd party supplier in support of Virtual HIL activities
Coordinate requirements and design reviews with suppliers, algorithm, and software groups e.g. DFMEA, DRBFM, Peer Reviews
Organize, Lead, Support key development meetings with internal and external stakeholders (PDT, design reviews, DFMEAs) Review.
Review and approve controller validation plans-Worst Case Analysis, Bench (Design Demo), Design and Process Validation
Demonstrate designs meet requirements by analysis, development, and validation and are available for key pre-production vehicle build milestones
Assure that production released parts meet PPAP and supplier manufacturing is ready to start volume production at product launch
Perform design, development and release process activities for production following documented Controller Process of Engineering
Manage and Track Supplier Development Progress Keep supplier(s) on track to meet key milestones (design freeze, gate reviews for prototype levels, validation start and complete dates)
Report status of key hardware and ECU infrastructure software development progress to Engineering and Vehicle Team leadership
Lead/participate in issue resolution for design and development issues, ECU warranty analysis, parts restriction and report updates as required to Engineering and Vehicle Team leadership
Responsible for understanding ECU warranty, making required changes to meet quality targets
Collaborate in a Scaled Agile product delivery team, comprised of cross-functional company peers and component supplier engineers to continuously prioritize, refine, and deploy component and system features
Domestic and international travel, up to 10%
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :
Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering
2+ years of embedded controls experience
Basic understanding of software verification/validation processes
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
High level of analytical ability where problems are complex and difficult to solve
Demonstrated proficiency in project management skills
Effective interpersonal skills that focus and influence others, including those which may have priority differences with yours
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Master's degree in Engineering
5+ years of related engineering experience
2+ years of design and release experience
Experience in the GM component specification and release process
Familiarity with electronics hardware electrical and mechanical analysis
Knowledge of automotive safety integrity levels (ASIL)
Knowledge of drawing GD&T and dimensional tolerance stack-ups Experience with Bills of Design, Statement of Requirements, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and Design Reviews
Working knowledge of problem resolution and tracking systems and engineering change management processes
High level of technical problem-solving skills and experience in the production domain to address vehicle level issues
Knowledge of automotive systems
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Black Belt certification.
Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process knowledge and certification
