Work Arrangement ​​:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center, Warren, MI ,three times per week, at minimum (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

The Role:

At this level you are expected to operate with a high level of independent discernment and are typically responsible for implementing functional strategy, administering and coordinating programs, counseling and advising management. As a fully-qualified individual contributor who has thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the function, you will provide expert judgment and analysis for the design, development and implementation of technical products and systems.

This person will rely mostly on extensive personal experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals. A considerable amount of creativity and initiative are involved as well as a high level of independent judgment. This person will help to resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced research. They will recommend alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedure and will be skilled and proficient with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

What You'll Do:

  • You will perform multiple tasks. Lead and likely direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

  • Responsible for supporting the Electrical Integration work within Seating GSSLT by leading the Seat Wiring Harness Assessment (WHA) activities

  • Work with Program Seat DREs, Seat Validation and GM Power & Signal Distribution Systems (PSDS) to drive flawless Virtual & Physical WHA executions

  • Confirm completion of each WHA at required cadence through the Seat Peer Review Process

  • Knowledge of GM Auros database and the Seat WHA process is key for success in this role.  Seating knowledge is preferred

  • Support, monitor and track the Virtual & Physical WHAs for all programs

  • Know the WHA Best Practices and routing requirements

  • Collaborate/coach global DRE seat engineers on technical correctness of seat harness routing

  • Understand and ensure all requirements are understood and incorporated into every program

  • Support the development enterprise cost optimization scenarios and lead their implementation as it relates to seat wiring

  • Support Warranty, QRD, PRTS, validation, and simulation lessons learned for seat wiring harnesses

  • Regular attendee and engagement Seat Peer Reviews and Seat Warranty Reviews as seat wiring harness expert

  • Provide support to DREs during harness routing design and layout for 1st / 2nd & 3rd row seating

  • Support DREs by reviewing current process and determining optimization opportunities

  • Communicate weekly during 1-on-1 with Electrical Integration Tech Lead, or more often if needed

  • Local travel to suppliers, up to 50%

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering required

  • Minimum 5+ years' of Electrical and wire harness experience required

  • Experience with DFMEAs, PFMEAs, Design For Six Sigma/Evidence Based Decision Making, Red X, Auros

  • Ability to break down complex issues into understandable pieces

  • Ability to explain technical issues in simple terms

  • Ability to manage a multitude of assignments, programs and strategic initiatives with high levels of composure and effective implementation

  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills – able to build effective coalitions

  • Demonstrated ability to “deal with ambiguity” while driving timely decision making toward issue resolution
