Job Description
The Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the Company and will include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets, enhance the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results, ensure that reported results comply with US generally accepted accounting principles ("US GAAP") and provide financial insight into the Company's operations to assist management in decision-making. Responsibilities include the following:
• Direct and manage accounting staff during the monthly close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and efficient use of resources.
Key areas of responsibilities include:
• General accounting
• JIB/A/P accounting
• Revenue accounting
• Regulatory/indirect tax reporting
• Management/coordination of tax compliance via outsourced liaisons
• Fixed assets
• Internal controls
• Audit coordination
• Internal and investor financial reporting in accordance with GAAP for multiple entities
• Financial analysis and analytics
• Implement processes, procedures, systems and financial controls that maintain the integrity and accuracy of the Company's financial data and ensure compliance and consistency to GAAP, SOX and other regulations.
• Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and external use to ensure completeness and accuracy of such reports and consistent with US GAAP.
• Oversight to ensure balance sheet accounts are maintained and reconciled a monthly and quarterly basis.
• Oversee and maintain company-wide delegation of authority.
• Oversee and manage all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards.
• Responsible for evaluating adherence to current accounting policies and implementation of policies and procedures for new accounting pronouncements.
• Identifies and implements resolutions for emerging accounting issues.
• Prepare projections, variance analysis and "dashboard" metrics to drive decision making and support the needs of the management team.
• Evaluate current internal reporting for opportunities to implement best practices based on the needs of the end users of the financial statements.
• Participate as a "business partner" with the Finance, IT and Operations departments in the long-term planning, budgeting and financial & operational analysis
• Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes, improve business performance and maintain financial data; participate in IT system optimization activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including special projects.

Requirements
• 5 years or more of accounting and financial management experience.
• Minimum of 5 years related supervisory work experience.
• Experience in oil and gas industry with a minimum of 5 years of revenue, JIB, production accounting, internal controls and/or financial reporting experience.
• Experiences with W Energy, Quorum, SAP or similar software.
• Experience working in a growing start up environment strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required. CPA and/or PASH membership preferred.
• Self-starter with strong organization skills.
• Flexibility to grow and change with company needs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
