Overview:

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Controller - Corporate Accounting & Consolidations will report directly to the Controller and will be primarily responsible for monthly financial result consolidations. Responsibilities also include providing oversight and leadership to the accounting team handling Corporate shore-based accounting, encompassing fixed assets, payroll imports, debt transactions, cash applications, and other Houston-based accounting functions.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Controller may:
  • Oversee and manage monthly accounting consolidations in Oracle and One Stream.
  • Supervise and manage the accounting processes for all corporate shore-based activities, providing direct supervision to the accounting team members handling management reporting, fixed asset accounting, and other related functions within the corporate shore-based domain.
  • Monitor and review financial transactions and activities for assigned accounts, cost centers, and business processes.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and yearly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with both external and internal audits by actively providing required information and documentation. Collaborate closely with audit teams, offering assistance and insights to address inquiries and meet requirements in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation concerning assigned functions and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to maintain financial records and system processes.
  • Conduct research on accounting pronouncements, and develop company policies for new, evolving, or existing business transactions. Effectively communicate the implications to the organization, ensuring comprehensive understanding.
  • Research accounting and reporting issues to identify root causes, develop potential solutions, and deliver comprehensive resolutions. Effectively keep stakeholders informed throughout the investigative process, ensuring transparency, and understanding.
  • Assist in the training and development of the accounting staff by hands-on guidance and constructive feedback. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment ensuring the team is well-equipped to meet evolving challenges.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs.
  • Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
  • Perform special projects and other duties as required.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience with a mix of public accounting and industry experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Big 4 accounting experience.
  • Offshore drilling industry experience.
  • Oracle general ledger experience.
