Description
The Cloudburst Group is a unique small business working at the intersection of domestic and international development to support government programs that benefit low-income and vulnerable populations. We have an exciting opportunity in our communications practice area for a multi-faceted professional to join our interdisciplinary team of graphic design, writing and copy editing, web development, video editing, instructional design, and Social Media specialists.
The successful candidate will be responsible for formatting, Social Media, and other communications tasks across a variety of clients and projects. The candidate should have a high attention to detail, good task management skills, the ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, skill at working well in a team environment, and be adaptable to change.
Expected Compensation Range: $45,000 to $62,500, annualized (nonexempt)
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be capable of working independently in a virtual environment, becoming an essential part of a small team creating communications materials for the company and its clients. As a remote member of a close-knit team, the candidate will need to be available to work during a reliable set of company hours, proactively communicating, participating in project management processes, and supporting colleagues wherever possible to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Formatting
- Design and format documents, including reports and presentations, in collaboration with researchers, Communications Specialists, and subject matter experts.
- Apply client-specific branding guidelines and standards to the creation of communications products.
- Assist in the development of fact sheets, briefers, newsletters, success stories, brochures, presentations, blog posts, project highlights, written documents and templates.
- Support the Graphic Designer in the creation of graphics, illustrations, infographics, data visualizations, or other visual presentation of content for online and print dissemination, especially those intended for external online dissemination.
Social Media
- Manage the company's Social Media calendar and stay abreast of "Social Media holidays" and anniversaries.
- Manage Social Media production including solicitation of contributions and feedback from colleagues, approvals, and posting.
- Learn the written voice of the company and its clients, and apply it to the current standards and norms of all major Social Media platforms.
- Contribute to the written and graphical preparation of press releases and talking points; photographs and captions; Social Media (LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Instagram, and/or YouTube) and/or blog posts; program updates; success stories, and narrative summaries documenting client projects.
- Ensure that the prepared materials are well showcased on the Social Media pages.
- Collect and catalog project-related photos, video, and other content from project staff, ensuring compliance related to privacy, personal information, and documentation.
- Maintain records of communications outputs related to external-facing work, including trackers with links to Social Media and/or print/video media and the estimated impressions.
- Stay abreast of the latest Social Media practices, conventions, and practices, and advise colleagues.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in communications, graphic design, or related field.
- One to two years' experience in academic, volunteer or professional organization. The ideal candidate may have advanced graphic design, video, or writing skills.
- Ability to provide prior examples of work including Social Media, marketing, written products and/or graphic design that demonstrate best value skills and capabilities.
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills are essential.
- Specialized computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite - especially Word, PowerPoint; and Canva and/or the Adobe Creative Suite) are required.
- Knowledge of Social Media tracking tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, as well as the ability to develop and conduct professional relationships.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.

Salary Description
$45,000 to $62,500, yearly
