As the Communications Manager, Operations - Americas, you will lead and manage internal communications efforts for PPG's Operations organization in the Americas region. You will partner with the Director of Industrial Segment Operations - Americas to define a communications strategy and plan to engage employees, reinforce global operations messaging around key topics (safety, quality, operational excellence, continuous improvement), and facilitate better connectivity across the region.
This role will also enable us to more effectively communicate with the Operations group across the Americas region through stronger engagement at the frontline, dedicated support of the Americas Operations Leadership Team, and established partnership with site leadership.
You will report into the Communications Manager, Global Operations, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Industrial Segment Operations - Americas. You will be a part of the Americas Operations Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Americas Operations Leadership to build authentic, engaging communications that support and drive operational objectives; Will also lead change management communications as needed across the region.
- Coordinate with Americas Operations leadership to enable timely sharing of information and initiatives across the Operations functions.
- Partner with EHS (Americas) Leadership to elevate safety messaging at facilities in the Americas region.
- Partner with Quality (Americas) Leadership to elevate quality messaging at facilities in the Americas region.
- Identify and share stories that reflect modernization and digitization at PPG sites, including global engineering projects, advanced manufacturing technologies, and the implementation of more sustainable processes.
- Collaborate with Internal Communications functions to highlight PPG People in the Americas region and provide relevant content for Americas Operations.
- Organize and coordinate annual Plant Manager Meeting and other regional events and meetings for Americas region in partnership with key members of the Americas Operations Leadership.
- Organize and coordinate other meetings or events as deemed necessary by the Director of Industrial Segment Operations - Americas.
- Develop processes and resources internally and externally to support communications at the frontline for the Americas region.
- Manage agency partnerships and/or outside consultants/freelancers to deliver strategic initiatives and creative objectives.
- Partner with Labor Relations and Human Resources on Union-related communications as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or related field.
- Knowledge of corporate internal and employee communication strategies.
- Strong writing and editing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize initiatives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
