Salary: $55,000-$60,000 salary

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Web & Digital Communications Manager is responsible for connecting PYM Friends and meetings and broadening engagement and deepening relationships through the design, operation, through the design, operation and content of the PYM website.  Additionally, the Manager supports the technical aspects of PYM communications including but not limited to broadcast emails, social media channels, and other communications tools such as google groups and/or Slack.

                                                                                                                                                             

This position requires a mindfulness of the spiritual dimension of our work; effective use of web and digital communication channels and tools as a primary means of communication and positioning to the world; and sensitivity to leadership opportunities and collaborative needs among PYM staff and volunteers.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Maintains the PYM website so that it is engaging and effective. This includes responsibility for overall website design and functionality and all technical, operational, security, design and content management functions. Provides ongoing monitoring and maintenance, corrections, improvements, support, periodic refreshes and contributing to redesigns.
  2. Sources, recommends, and manages providers of services and technologies for the PYM website, updates to the web content management system, plugin updates, hosting accounts, domains, and multimedia services. Documents, tracks and compiles essential website information for staff reference.
  3. Improves the UX of website and digital channels through recommending improvements, creating wireframes and mockups, creating personas, and outlining user journeys, etc.
  4. Provides consultation, training, support and guidance to PYM staff and volunteers to help them best use the PYM website, email and digital channels to accomplish their communication goals. Conducts periodic team reviews, status updates, and feedback sessions with PYM web editors. Integrates programs, events, projects and other communications needs with the PYM website.
  5. Coordinates PYM website strategies and operations with other communications channels and technologies. Contributes to content creation for all communication channels.
  6. Creates emails using marketing automation platforms to support communication flow. Strategizes with project teams to create effective email communications, such as supporting A/B testing of campaigns.
  7. Function as an integral member of the Communications team; contribute to team goals; implement the work and the tasks of the position with an intention to manifest the Spirit; attend to the importance of fun, fellowship, worship, learning and service in carrying out the work; ensure that day to day activities are always a means of attending to the meaning, purpose and goal of the work.
  8. Attends Yearly Meeting sessions, including Annual and Continuing Sessions, and serves as staff support during sessions.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

           

          QUALIFICATIONS:

          • An active Friend or experience with Friends’ meetings; knowledge of Quaker principles and practice
          • Bachelor degree in computer science, communications, marketing, web programming, journalism, English or related field
          • Three years or more experience in online marketing or communications including website management, social media management and email creation
          • Experience implementing and administering WordPress Multisite. Working knowledge of, and facility with, Adobe Photoshop, SFTP clients and related software.  Proficient with standards-compliant HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP.
          • Knowledge and insight of digital trends and a vision of how best to present PYM in the modern digital world. Knowledge of web management and best practices for web design and online communications.
          • Knowledge of email clients, especially Salesforce and Pardot
          • Familiar with UX principles, including software such as Sketch or Figma, and creating wireframes and mockups
          • Ability to manage complex projects, problem-solve, work independently as well as collaboratively with a diverse team. Demonstrated ability to think creatively and come up with innovative ways to deliver results.
          • Ability to listen well while identifying the needs of users and guiding them to a positive outcome. Ability to manage stakeholders’ expectations and communicate clearly at all levels. 
          • Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivation, and a positive attitude.
          • Video editing / Photography / social media creative content skills desirable.

They consistently integrate their deep understanding of key racial equity concepts into work projects and interactions by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies, campaign objectives, organizing objectives, activities, and decisions on race, class and other group identities within the context of job responsibilities and projects.
          1. Familiarity with Quaker faith and practices, and/or a willingness to gain, deepen, and nurture such knowledge.

          TIME EXPECTATION: This is a full-time position (35 hours per week on average).

           

          WORKING ENVIRONMENT: PYM's offices are located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia in a LEED certified green building called Friends Center. Currently hybrid (minimum of 2 days in the office) the PYM staff enjoys a friendly and welcoming workplace environment and collegial culture. The building complex houses a range of interesting non-profits serving local, regional, and international missions. Surrounded by an array of cultural institutions, restaurants and parks, Friends Center is minutes away from various transit portals and many of Philadelphia’s best sites.

           

          COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The salary range is $55,000- 60,000.00 Benefits include medical, dental and life insurance, commuter and health FSAs, a 403(b)-retirement plan with 7% employer contribution plus 3% match, generous paid time off including yearly vacation days (20), personal days (4), holidays (11), and sick days (12), flexible work schedule which currently allows up to three days of work from home weekly.
