Job Description:
The School of Education in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a 11-month Clinical Experience Coordinator. The position requires Pk-12 expertise and a broad understanding of the teaching profession.
The Clinical Experience Coordinator will coordinate pre-service field experiences in Pk-12 settings and facilitate the placement process by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with district leaders, building administrators, and cooperating teachers.
Using program policy and professional knowledge, they will organize events, meet with students, schedule experiences in alignment with Iowa Code requirements, recruit Pk-12 teachers, and communicate expectations and details with students, teachers, supervisors, and district administrators.
The Clinical Experience Coordinator will also serve as the instructor of record for field experience courses across content areas, and is responsible for candidate evaluation, improvement, and accountability in the field.
The Clinical Experience Coordinator will coordinate and manage a team of contracted university supervisors; recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, assigning caseloads, and managing employees who provide guidance to students in the field.
The Clinical Experience Coordinator requires the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement and finesse to resolve complex situations
The Clinical Experience Coordinator and coordinating team supports 13 program areas across campus and is required to function within legal and state approval boundaries to ensure licensure and program requirements are met.
Level Guidelines

- Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
- Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
- Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
- Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
- May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
- May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
- Provides guidance to students
