Summary
 
This position supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by analyzing, troubleshooting and reprogramming implanted pacemakers and defibrillators in the Cardiology Clinic. Provides analysis of device via remote monitoring systems and appropriately document reports. Assesses wounds post-device implant at follow up visit. Educates patients and families pre and post procedure regarding device function, clinic follow up need and home-monitoring needs.
 
Job Duties
  • Participates in performance improvement programs as assigned.
  • Assists other clinical staff with patient care and visit coordination.
  • Coordinates low volume device interrogations, coordinate reps to follow up with patient care.
  • Provides patient education and communication regarding provider plan of care.
  • Collaborates and communicates with physician or provider in terms of device management and patient plan of care.
  • Maintains and follows up on manufacturer advisories and recalls.
  • Reports any specific patient status changes to the physician or provider in charge.
  • Becomes proficient in the use of new equipment or procedures and provides appropriate education in these areas.
  • Tracks equipment and orders supplies as needed and ensures correct billing and coding of device checks.
  • Maintains device records are accurate and up-to-date for all patients in EHR systems.
  • Maintains device check schedules and coordinates clinic days accordingly for all device locations.
  • Educates patients and families pre- and post-procedure regarding device function, clinic follow-up scheduling and device home monitoring.
  • Assess wounds post-device implant to ensure that the incision is healing appropriately.
  • Provides analysis of device via remote monitoring systems and appropriately documents reports.
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and reprograms implanted pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders in clinic and hospital setting.

Professional Experience
  • Two years’ relevant clinical experience required
Education
  • Licensed Practical Nurse or Paramedic required
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Licensure as required by profession
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), in accordance with the American Heart Association required. ACLS in accordance with the American Heart Association preferred.
  • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.

  • Medium: Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently
