Job Title: Training and Development Coordinator

General SummaryUnder general supervision, the Coordinator designs, develops, teaches and coordinates the delivery of various training programs for Authority personnel. Identifies, plans and administers training workshops that are driven by strategic performance needs of the Authority. Ensures support of Authority’s goals and philosophy through training.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, designs and implements training programs for Authority personnel, which also include new and incumbent Fixed Route and Connector Coach Operators.
- Determines and develops course content, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.
- Writes, organizes and updates training manuals as necessary.
- Conducts refresher training of current SMART employees. ,
- May assist with classroom training, testing and evaluations
- May assist with developing online learning materials.
- May assist with coordinating the on-the-road training aspects of new Coach Operator training.
- Evaluates and selects textbooks, manuals and other training aids.
- May assist with counseling individual trainees when necessary,
- May assist with preparing Coach Operator trainees to take the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) examination.
- May assist with analyzing training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Assists outside consultants with conducting various programs involving specialized training.
- May assist with the interview and selection process of new Coach Operators.
- Maintains complete and accurate training records/files on all aspects of training and testing for each trainee including course material.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Training and Development, Human Resources, Education, Business Administration or related field.
- Three years recent experience in training administration, curriculum development, implementing and leading training/educational programs for a broad range of audiences.
- Experience in developing management, supervisory and customer service training.
- Preferred Experience in using online course software
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.
- Must possess strong analytical, organizational; interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Must obtain a valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License with BP endorsements within 90 days of appointment.
- Proficient in the use of Windows-based MS Word and MS Excel applications.
- Will be required to work some weekends.
