Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership:

- Develops and establishes operations policies consistent with the CEO’s broad policies and objectives and ensures their adequate execution. Appraises and evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports results to the CEO
- Ensures all activities and operations are performed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations
- Ability to effectively manage changes and guide those changes through significant challenges while achieving organizational goals and objectives
- Develops and maintains a sound organizational plan. Establishes policies to ensure adequate leadership development and to provide for capable management succession for those functions/departments falling under their responsibility
Strategic Work:
- Responsible for the oversight, development, review, and final recommendations of related capital and operations master plans. Specifically, regulatory requirements and operational emergency management matters are this position’s ever-present concerns that require the highest levels of oversight and adherence.
- Provide a vision and leadership for departments that will prepare NBU to effectively manage the current and future changes facing the utility sector.
- Presents complex information strategies as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders on projects and programs that may include public outreach, council updates, and program implementation
- Be community-oriented and able to establish and develop strong business relations with external strategic partners.
- Ensure the continued financial viability of NBU’s operations departments through sound fiscal management.
- Knowledgeable of federal, state, and local regulations governing utility construction, operations, management, and reporting requirement
- Results-oriented, use a systematic process to develop plans and achieve specific outcomes, and create a team environment to achieve objectives and focus on results rather than activities.
- Act as a change agent by utilizing various change and project management techniques to enhance business processes and operational excellence
- Provide operational, strategic oversight to ensure NBU’s revenue sufficiency.

Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of leadership experience, preferably at a municipal or cooperative utility. PMI certification is a plus.
