Management
- Maintains a cohesive system of accounting policies and procedures
- Manages the operations of the Health System’s accounting departments, which includes creation of a structure that supports accomplishment of the Health System’s goals and objectives coupled with that of each department
- Oversees the accounting operations of the Health System’s subsidiary entities, specifically focusing on their accounting controls, transaction processing, and underlying operating rules.

- Accounts payable/Fixed Assets
- Kronos
- Bank reconciliations
- Account reconciliations
- Debt payments
- Cashiering
- Underlying these transactions is need for accurate and timely maintenance of:
- Chart(s) of accounts
- Accounting filing systems
- A comprehensive system of controls governing all accounting transactions
Reporting
- Ensures completion of accurate and timely financial statements
- Reviews and approves all journal entries
- Oversees preparation of the Health System’s annual reports, including the audited financial statements and footnotes.
- Develops benchmarks against which to measure the financial performance of Health System operations, including variance analysis, identification of performance drivers
- Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics
- Tracks variances in budget and prior year and reports significant changes to senior administration (for both internal and external financial reporting)
- Maintains a robust system by which to categorize and track the Health System’s operating costs
- Provides financial analyses, modeling and support as needed, in particular for budget preparation, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Compliance
- Ensures strong internal controls are in place
- Manages the relationship and coordinates the provision of information to be reviewed by the Health System’s internal and external auditors
- Monitor debt levels and ensures compliance with debt covenants
- Ensures that the Health System complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required. Master’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field required.
Experience: 10 years of senior management experience with increasing responsibility in financial management in a large, complex organization (or organizations), preferably a health system.
Licensure: CPA strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
