Job Description
Biologics Consulting Group is conducting a search for a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with strong operational, people management and analytical skills; experience serving as a senior finance partner in a professional services/consulting organization preferred. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and Business Unit Leaders and have significant responsibility in setting financial growth targets and achieving those annual targets/delivering the business. In addition, the CFO will oversee day-to-day finance related operations such as accounting, A/R, contracts, financial IT systems, and have significant responsibility for providing timely analytics to support a data driven approach to business management decisions.
The CFO will support and contribute to strategies to grow our financial position. In addition, strong skills or background in current accounting practices and trends, investment strategies, and organic and inorganic growth structures are highly desirable. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role with strong interpersonal skills and clear and effective communication skills.
Objectives of this role
- Strategic finance partner to oversee all financial aspects of the business such as annual operating plan/development of an annual budget, financial reporting and analysis, delivering financial results, cash flow, investment strategy, etc.
- Strong analytical background and skillset to support data analytics to help drive business decisions such as project budgeting/contracting, hiring, etc.
- Oversee financial IT systems and other finance related operations such as contracting and A/R
- Coordinate development of annual operating plan, support delivery of plan and develop reporting for the same
- Support optimization of finance operations and develop internal-control activities for the organization
- Develop and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
- Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
Responsibilities
- Work with senior leadership team to develop annual operating plan/budgets and support business decisions to deliver to targets through timely analytics
- Support strategic growth planning through research of revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for margin expansion and process enhancement
- Evaluate and manage cash investment strategies along with organic and inorganic growth opportunities/investments
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for board of directors meetings, management team, and rest of company
- Manage accounting and financial operations personnel, oversee financial IT systems, ensure compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
Required skills and qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in senior finance leadership roles
- Excellent leadership skills, results driven, and personal integrity
- Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Strong data and analytical skills; proven ability to support business decisions with analytics
- Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
- Working knowledge of cash investment strategies, and how to raise capital as well as organic and inorganic growth structures
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business, or finance
- Senior finance experience in a professional services/consulting organization
- Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
