The Inside Sales Business Development Specialist serves as Customer liaison and coordinates cross functionally with internal teams to drive sales, support sales program and promotional opportunities and develop long term business relationships. The Business Development Specialist monitors, evaluates and provides recommendations to Leadership on best practices, technology and innovation improvements in connection with the competitive landscape, and acts as a resource to the outside sales team in managing our customer accounts.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as Customer liaison responding swiftly and accurately to inbound communication and correspondence from Customers and Sales Representatives in support of best practices to identify and meet the needs of the customer. Drive the negotiation and business closing process in compliance with sales policies and procedures.
- Promote and support company stocking and display program and promotional initiatives as related to channel segment. Deliver statistical sales reporting and target lists to Sales Representatives.
- Work with sales representatives to aggressively seek out, and pursue new business prospects. Leverage sales and promotional programs to pursue opportunities to elevate sales through upselling.
- Coordinate with internal support teams, including but not limited to, Quotations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Accounting, Operations, and Quality Control, to ensure all aspects of the customers interests are consistently represented and aligned with company requirements.
- Execute strong business decisions to improve and build long term relationships through fast response and resolutions in the areas of reviewing, submitting and tracking customer orders throughout the sales lifecycle, from initial quotes to tracking, delivery, product support, condition of delivered product, and returns.
- Provide purposeful recommendations to Leadership on current Sales policies, procedures and strategy to ensure the company to improve and implement innovative best practices and technology.
- Prepare reoccurring reports to analyze data concerning territory behavior to respond to changing needs as well as industry trends.
- Assist in preparing simple product layouts, estimates, quotations and proposals in support of new and add-on business.
- Maintain high level knowledge of product offerings and applications to provide specific recommendations to the customer.
- Provide technical troubleshooting support for Lighting Products and fans as needed.
- Work with the Territory Sales Manager to perform high level account review of contracted representative’s roles and responsibilities, commission inquiries, territory coverage, etc. and provide recommendations and solutions in the event of discrepancies.
- Develop strong relationships with all decision makers including distributors, specifiers, architects, designers, and project managers.
- Record, maintain and vet leads through our Sugar CRM platform to maximize sales opportunities.
- Attend and participate in virtual sales presentations and live tradeshows within the respected territory.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of Lighting Industry professional experience working directly with customers, preferably in a sales or call center environment.
- Strong knowledge of Innovative Lighting Products from an Inside Sales setting.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Attention to detail in composing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Effectively manage multiple projects and assignments through completion.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks/demands.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proven ability for sound judgement and decision-making ability.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and commissions.
- Strong knowledge of a variety of office tools and software applications including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and CRM software.
- Experience with SAP and Zendesk are a plus.
