Job Summary
The Account Manager/Business Development Manager creates and maintains ongoing customer sales. Products sold are industrial commodities used by customers to produce their products. Typical industrial commodities are steel, aluminum, plastics, castings, fabricated parts, assemblies, and combinations of these items. This person is one of the lead employees in developing current accounts and identifying new business opportunities to complete the sale. He/she is responsible for continuing the sale and expanding the customer relationship.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate as the primary point of contact for customers and the suppliers employed in providing the products and services required to satisfy the customer’s needs.
- Understand customer’s needs by interacting with the customer’s ownership, management, purchasing, engineering and production as appropriate.
- Know the capabilities of all companies in the company's network and employ this knowledge to increase sales.
- Help customers increase their sales wherever possible.
- Assist customers in reducing their costs wherever possible in purchasing and manufacturing.
Preferred Requirements
- Excellent ability to solve problems
- Bachelors degree highly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of customer relationship management
- Must be able to negotiate challenges, remove barriers, and work through issues
- Have the ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- Have experience in selling industrial commodities or the ability to quickly learn about industrial commodities
- Knowledge of industrial purchasing
