What is the job about?
This position will work with leaders from Peerless Pump Fire management team and associates across the organization to identify and help execute commercial growth and profitability improvement initiatives for the Fire Business Unit (BU). This position involves significant ongoing strategic and financial analysis aimed at assessing the health and competitive positioning of the Fire BU. The position will drive implementation of projects that support strategic ambitions. This position reports directly to the Vice President Fire Unit and will operate daily out of the local facility in Indianapolis or Houston office in a hybrid function. The selected candidates must reside in Houston or Indianapolis. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
Your main responsibilities:
- Support strategic planning efforts for Fire BU.
- Work with business unit leadership team to identify growth opportunities and priorities.
- Develop methodology and cadence for ongoing Voice of Customer (Distribution / Key Accounts).
- Conduct ongoing analysis of target markets, Peerless Pump Fire business, and its competitors (benchmarking strategic aspects of business).
- Help develop strategic rationale and quantify organic and inorganic investment requirements.
- Create formal Strategic Plan documents for Fire BU / FireConnect business.
- Work with Segment and Business Leaders to identify growth platforms and build.
- Identify and prepare business cases for investment to include strategic and financial analyses.
- Support coordination of global segments and product lines by working with segment leaders on strategy, product roadmap, manufacturing footprint, and commercial approaches.
- Participate or lead special, cross-functional initiatives playing a central role in ongoing assessment and analysis of overall market dynamics and PPU Fire performance and against competitors.
- Understanding and ability to work within B2B / B2C go to market strategies.
- Develop point of view on Peerless Fire segment market share, market segment trends, and overall Sector financial performance (in coordination with Finance Business Partner)
- Coordinate Business Development priorities with Product Management, Sales Enablement, Marketing, and CSC.
- Ability to navigate highly ambiguous strategic questions and drive actionable insights by using a structured and data driven approach.
- Strong time management skills: ability to prioritize and balance work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams through influence and thought leadership.
- Strong and adaptable professional presence; comfortable communicating and working with senior executives in contexts ranging from informal collaboration to formal reviews / presentations.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability / experience in industry research.
Your background
We imagine that you have:
- B.S. Degree in a technical, business or marketing discipline. MBA a plus.
- 5-8 years of experience in product management, applications engineering, or business operations preferred. (Technical degree requires business management experience, business or marketing degree requires technical professional experience)
- 7+ Years experience in Fire Pump market.
- Ability to coach and lead sales processes or projects within the digital offering (value-based selling).
- Expert knowledge and commercial mindset regarding selling and delivering digital offerings and services.
- Solid knowledge of the plans, processes and activities related to commercialization of new technologies.
- Strong ability to influence others and earn trust.
- Strong presentation, communication and writing skills.
- Experience being an influencer within a dynamic business environment.
- Possess a great understanding of the relevant systems, local laws, and regulations where applicable, for the digital offerings and service environment.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% as necessary. Thus, candidates should be able to maintain valid identification, including a valid Passport.
- The ability to operate daily out of the local facility in Indianapolis or Houston in a hybrid function.
