Title: Business Development Manager- Commercial Marine, Americas
Position Overview The Business Development Manager-Commercial Marine, (Americas), is responsible for securing new and returning business from Commercial Marine operators as well as Government bodies responsible for marine survey and data collection. The individual must possess a strong understanding of workboat machinery and sensors, as well as specific knowledge of the hydrographic survey market, (coastal and offshore). Responsibility includes taking lead in responding to RFI and RFPs as well as proactively tracking opportunities across the domain. This role will require knowledge of Federal and State Government acquisition processes, as well as program management experience specific to the marine domain. Commercial account responsibilities include supporting reseller engagements, as well as creating outbound paths for Sea Machines business. The position requires excellent writing skills and the ability to craft solutions that creatively shape Sea Machines’ ability to respond and win new survey business. The position reports directly to the VP of Global Sales.
Primary Objectives
- Energize and execute the outbound sales strategy
- Manage and respond to inbound qualified contacts from web registrations, promotions, events and other marketing and sales activities.
- Lead demonstration efforts and organize sea trial events and customer training/exercises
- Form winning proposals in response to RFI and RFP’s, for both commercial and Government.
- Monitor the landscape for Federal survey business opportunities and shape requirements for programs
- Lead and participate in external teaming efforts with other companies to make the winning solution.
- Work with internal product & engineering teams to determine product requirements.
- Create and deliver compelling presentations
- Track, maintain sales databases and CRM.
- 10 years experience working in marine industry in a sales/marketing role
- Experience working with hydrographic survey equipment or software and knowledge of the marine survey landscape.
- Expert knowledge of marine vessels, navigation equipment and vessel systems.
- Experience with marine industry software, USV offerings, or Captain’s Credentials are all favorable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Studies, or extensive “At Sea” time in a leadership role.
- Eagerness to travel on average, 40-60%
- Tier one writing and presentation skills, and able to maximize use of MS Office capabilities.
