We are currently seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team in San Diego, CA. The BDM is responsible for building relationships with new clients and generating new sources of revenue for our laboratory. The position will build the groundwork for our customer service team to establish a longstanding relationship with the client which will involve project management, strategic planning, sales support, product design, service application, logistics, andtravel ranging from attending trade shows and networking events to setting up meetings with prospective clients at their facilities. The position includes a commission structure for new business acquired.
This employee will be scheduled to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, with a flexible shift time. This position is great fit for an extroverted candidate with a proven track record of consistent lead generation and successful account closings/onboardings with a strong interest in the cannabis or sciences industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cold calling and lead generation.
- Persistent follow up with leads in the sales pipeline.
- Track all sales activity (calls, emails, meetings etc) on CRM software.
- Meet weekly, monthly, and quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Providing monthly reports to management detailing current accounts in sales pipeline along with supporting information for lost or declining accounts no longer in the sales pipeline.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, new products/processes, pricing etc.
- Successfully guides and prioritizes leads and new business in the sales cycle.
- Successfully lead the onboarding of new clients onto ICAL platforms.
- Assisting the Account Management Team with closed accounts as they transition out of the sales pipeline into a regular customer.
- Ability to work unsupervised and maintain productivity.
- Provide exceptional customer service to our clients and customers through inbound and outbound calls and email communication.
- Serves as intermediary between laboratory departments and administrative staff to handle client requests and discrepancies.
- Respond to inquiries about services, pricing, and assist existing and potential accounts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Strong communication skills, eager to pick up the phone.
- Working knowledge of cannabis products and market trends.
- Ideal candidate will be people-oriented and able to form relationships quickly.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
- Disciplined conflict-resolution skills; solution oriented.
- Working knowledge of or willingness to learn about: chemistry concepts, microbiological processes, and/or botanical/horticultural practices.
- Personal integrity, disciplined work ethic, organization skills, and motivation to work with a sense of urgency.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), G Suite (primarily Google Sheets & Google Docs) and QuickBooks.
- Must be comfortable working around cannabis and hemp products.
- At least 1 year prior experience in cannabis sales, laboratory sales, and/or related science industry sales role.
- Must possess at least an Associates' Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, and/or related field (Bachelor's preferred) or equivalent work experience in a similar role.
- Must be at least 21 years old to comply with Department of Cannabis Control regulations.
- Must not concurrently work in any other part of the cannabis industry.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of time during the month dependent on business or sales needs.
