Job Description
Adecco is recruiting for a great position that is open now with a well-known church in Lawrence.
The Financial Manager is responsible for handling the financial affairs of the church, which includes maintaining financial records, overseeing bookkeeping tasks involved in accounts receivable, and performing accounting tasks involved in processing accounts payable and payroll. The manager will maintain accurate and current records of all income, expenditures, assets, and liabilities by entering data into computerized accounting system.
Essential Functions
• Update the chart of accounts and class codes.
• Monitor cash receipts, loans, and designated fund activity; process fund transfers and payments as needed; develop cash flow statements.
• Prepare/receive payment vouchers, post entries, and process/print checks or authorized online payments for disbursement of funds.
• Maintain calendar of payment dates for church obligations without invoices (e.g., mission shares, parking fees, utilities).
• Process payroll and file all federal and state payroll/income tax reports.
• Make journal entries as needed consistent with accepted accounting procedures and reconcile all bank and brokerage statements.
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports.
• Assist in the budgeting process.
• Work on special projects related to the financial affairs of the church; provide advice in making financial decisions.
• Complete all correspondence and materials required for annual audit.
• Manage all giving drives, pledges and funds within the church database and transfer data to accounting system; facilitate online/auto-giving through bank.
• Provide information to staff, committees, congregation and individuals as needed and requested.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial records.
• Take deposits to bank.
Other Responsibilities
• Participate in supervisory conversations.
• Work in cooperation with church financial secretary, treasurer, and finance committee.
• Attend finance committee meetings (usually monthly in evening).
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business management and/or commensurate knowledge and experience (including basic accounting and double-entry bookkeeping principles and procedures)
• Certification in Safe Gatherings (provided through church)
• Experience of at least four years in using QuickBooks with class codes
• Proficiency in word processing, basic databases, and spreadsheets
• Valid driver's license
Work hours - The office is open from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The rest of the work hours are somewhat flexible. For instance, work hours could be 6 hours per day or 4 days at 7.5 hours. There is a monthly finance meeting (usually the second Thursday) at 6:45 pm, and you will need to adjust your day hours to attend this meeting.
Hourly pay rate is set at $22.00 per hour
