Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside’s Resource Center program is located in Central Harlem. The Resource Center helps low-income individuals and family's access and receive entitlements, benefits, and resources. The Resource Center also offers an array of services including, but not limited to, benefits screening, financial counseling, legal consultation and referrals to support services in the community and city wide.
Purpose of Position: The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Program Director, Resource Center staff and clients.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Salary Range: $34,358 - $42,948
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesGreet and announce clients, visitors and guests while maintaining front desk coverage
Perform clerical duties as assigned by Program Director
Answer general questions related to program services, with accurate information
Maintain calendars for scheduling of clients’ appointments
Review database for client information prior to visits with service providers
Use computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database software to prepare reports, memos, and documents
Monitor inventory of office supplies
Contact vendors for service and repairs as directed
Accept and sign for deliveries
Attend weekly supervision, staff meetings and training programs as needed; Write up and distribute meeting minutes.
Code and submit financial material according to established fiscal procedures
Assist in coordination of the program interns’ daily activities, schedule and maintain interns’ calendar of events for various projects needed to complete their internship
Ability to communicate information clearly, correctly and professionally, both verbal and written
Able to maintain an organized and professional reception area
Participate in Resource Center outreach events to identify and communicate with prospective clients throughout the community and city
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
High School Diploma required, Associates or some college preferred
Must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have/be:
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
Able to use or learn electronic databases such as Intacct, New Tech
