Job Description:
This position will assist in in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the Radiology Section (primarily teaching and some clinical service) within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and teaching in Clinical Skills (25%). The position in VCS includes participation in the radiology, teaching and Clinical service. The position in Clinical Skills includes teaching and participation in the Clinical Skills program, problem based learning, and may involve participation in collaborative research into innovative teaching methods.
45% Clinical Skills Curriculum: This position will be part of the Clinical Skills team involved in teaching professional veterinary students. This position will provide direct instruction in the imaging laboratory (Clinical Skills and imaging interpretation) across across years 1-4 in the DVM program. Administer objective structured Clinical Skills examinations (OSCEs) and development and implementation of Clinical Skills courses/labs.
45% Radiology Service: Provide radiology instruction to professional veterinary students in the lab or classroom (VMED courses as assigned by the service) and in small group learning sessions with clinical students. Course coordination as assigned by the service.
10% Radiology Service: Assist with instruction of house officers and performance of clinical duties of a radiologist as assigned by the service.
Minimum Qualifications:
DVM with 3 year residency training in diagnostic imaging and 1 year clinical training.
Specific experience: Board certified in Veterinary Imaging by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR).
Preferred Qualifications :
DVM with 1 year experience in diagnostic Radiology and imaging (digital and/or in person clinical service).
Specific experience: Interest and experience in teaching Clinical Skills, PBLs and administering clinical exams to professional veterinary students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Eligible to obtain a faculty license for the State of Louisiana.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
This position is subject to oversight and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy. Requires working with or around areas with hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases. Availability to work 8-10 hour shifts.
Maneuver/lift equipment and materials weighing more than 50 pounds
Per PS 18- This position is a part of the Emergency Response Personnel - these personnel are linked with the hospital during any emergency response event and are expected to report in and perform as outlined in the emergency response plan.
Required to be capable of more than 50 pounds, standing or walking for prolonged periods, able to reach above and below the shoulder, vision (near sight), vision (far sight), kneel or sit on the floor, push/pulling, grasping, climbing, sitting, and/or bending
